At 6am the following morning I woke up to get ready for work. I took a shower and found a presentable suite for work.

I was ready by seven and I decided to surprise my mom with breakfast. I made her blueberry waffles from scratch just the way she liked them and to top it off I squeezed fresh oranges for her.

Everything was ready by 7:30 and I placed the breakfast on the table leaving my mom a note.

I walked to the bus stop say 'hi' to everyone that I met. I reached there a bit earlier than usual which means I got to choose the place that I wanted to sit. The bus left at 8:15 and I reached work at 8:45. Upon my arrival to work I saw Mr Brady moping the lobby.

"Goodmorning Mr Brady", I greeted him.

"Morning Pat", he replied, "how ya doing?"

"I'm doing great sir and you."

"I'm doing fine darling."

"Ok bye."

"Catch ya later girly."

And with that I headed to my office.

At about 9 Mr James walked in my with a smile on his face.

"Is everything ok sir?", I asked wearily.

"Yes everything is fine", was his reply.

"Is there anything that I can help you with?"

"Yes, pack your stuff and leave", he said happily.

"But why sir?", I asked.

"Yesterday I gave you a report that was due today at 9 am sharp and I still haven't received it yet, which means that you are fired."

"But sir I did finish the report and I left it on your desk yesterday ", I informed him.

Upon hearing these words the smile on his face dropped and he walked out of my office angrily slamming the door.

"I guess he wasn't expecting that", I mumbled under my breath.

A few minutes later he called me to his office and gave me about 20 files informing me to complete them by 9 tomorrow.

I wouldn't say that I was surprised I knew that finishing my work early would make him angry. The project that he had given me would have usually taken a person 3 days to finish.

It was a test and I passed it just not with the flying colours. It was something that didn't shock me it was just the way that things have always been.

I've witnessed it with my own eyes multiple amount of times while growing up.
