That was soo not my day. By the time I reached the bus stop the bus had already left and to top it off it started to rain.

I searched through my purse for my umbrella but I don't find it.

Seriously mom you choose today of all the days not to pack my umbrella,I mumbled to myself.

That day I walked home in the pouring rain.

When I got home my mom met me at the front door.

"Honey why are you home so late and why are you wet?"

"I missed the bus so I had to walk home in the rain",I replied.

"Oh honey, let me draw you a hot bath, take off your clothes before you catch a cold."

My mom took care of me that night, but I still woke up with a cold.

(The next morning)

"Mornin' darling,"my mom greeted me.

"Morning Mom."

"So how did the interview go yesterday,"she asked.

"I was a total disaster, the receptionist was very rude, so was the boss, and mom can you believe that there was not one black person working there. I didn't get the job because I'm 'black'."

"I am sorry honey let's just forget about it. There will be other jobs–"

"When? When I'm old and greying?"

"Honey you just have to be patient."

"Okay Mom."

"Love you."

"You too."

Ring, ring, ring

"Honey it's your phone",mom said.

"Hello",I answered.

"Is this Patricia Brown",the person on the other end asked.

"Yes this is her",was my reply.

"This is Ms. Taylor for Vine Industries and I am calling to tell you that you got the job as Mr. James' PA."

"Wait, what I got the job?"I asked sillily.

"No I got the job,"she replied sarcastically,"be here tomorrow at eight and not a minute later."

"O–,"I didn't even finish and she hang up.

"Who was it honey?"

"It was form Vine Industries."

"What did they want?"

"I got the job ."

"Really?"mom asked excitedly.

"Yeah."

"That's good news right?"

"They must be really desperate."
