Chapter 4

A few days of hard working and catching up had passed. I was completely filled in on the pack matters. I was running the pack without Jeff's help and all the members seemed to have accepted me. Even Andy accepted me as Alpha Female, though his perverted comments kept on coming. I guess some things will never change. The cold attitude my mother talked me in to kind of stick. Every day it got easier to keep the charade going.

I got up, spend the whole day working in the office and spend the night crying myself to sleep. I haven't spoken to any of my friends since I left graduation day. I saw most of them at the pack meeting, but I think they were too shocked by the new revelation to talk to me. Some of them texted or called me after the meeting, which I didn't respond to. I kept myself busy with the pack to avoid seeing them.

It was easier to keep the cold attitude going when I didn't have to see them, but there was one friend in particular that I missed the most, my best friend Katelyn. She was the only one I could be myself with, without feeling judged. I could let my guard down with her.

I asked Lisa to give her a call and schedule her in for a visit today. With the work I had piled up on my desk I was unable to leave the house. The last couple of days I almost haven't left the house, only for runs. I isolated myself and kept busy. Even as I kid, when I was grounded I would leave the house more often than now.

Katelyn came during lunchtime. She knocked on the door, but didn't wait for me to invite her in.

"Well, well, well.. If it isn't our Alpha Female. Thank you very much for allowing me to have a moment of your precious time," she joked while walking into the office.

"Ha-ha-ha.. Very funny." I walked around the desk to meet her half way.

"I missed you," I said, while hugging her.

"I missed you too, girly."

"Come on, let's take a seat. I'll ask Lisa to get us something to drink," I said while I walked to the desk to call Lisa.

"Wait, did you have lunch already?" Katelyn asked.

I could hear her forming a plan in her head without hearing the actual thoughts. "No, I haven't."

"Alright, than I'm taking you out on a lunch date."

I stared confused at her as she dragged me out of the office, into the kitchen. She grabbed a basket and filled it with food, drinks and a blanket. Then she went through the backdoor to the yard with me silently following her.

I had an idea where we were headed, but didn't say anything. I followed her lead by stripping my clothes and changing in my wolf form like her. I lifted my clothes in my muzzle and followed her deeper into the woods. We ran through the woods for a while until we stopped at a clearing.

'I haven't been here in months,' I thought to myself.

'That's why I brought you here, silly,' Katelyn said to me through my thoughts.

We discovered this place when we were little and kept coming here ever since. The clearing was in the middle of the woods and had a stream running through it. We would always sunbath or count the stars here. It was beautiful on every moment of the day. I loved being surrounded by nature.
