We were blasting music from the radio while driving. I was singing along to all of the songs that came on, even the ones that I didn't know that well. He was just laughing at me the whole time and every once in a while he would sing along with me. I was having so much fun. I even found out that he even had an amazing singing voice. Soon his car came to a slow stop in front of my house.
"Here we are." He said and put the car in park.
"Yep, this is me." I said and unbuckled my seatbelt. I went to open the door but was stopped by his voice.
"See you tomorrow Tate." he said with a smile
"Yeah" I said and stepped out of the car.
I only got a few steps aways before I turned back around and motioned for him to let the window down. He did so and I bent down to look at him in the car.
"I know this may seem like a really odd question but um... What's your name?" I asked and he laughed at me.
"I was wondering how long it would take for you to ask." he said
"Yeah sorry, I just realized that i didn't get it when we first met." i said quite embarrassed
"River." was all he said. I was so confused. What was he talking about?
"huh" is all i said and he laughed again
"My name, its River." He said
"Oh, right, that's a nice name. Well River, I'll see you around." i said
"And I'll also be seeing you later too baby girl." I said rubbing the top of the beautiful sports car.
"See you around Tate." he laughed, and with that, he let the window back up and I stepped away from the car and he flew back down the street.
I walked up to my front door and unlocked it pushing the door open. As soon as I stepped into the house, I saw several suitcases by the door that I recognized as my parents own.
"Tate, hun is that you?" i heard my mom say from the other room
"yeah mom it's me." I said taking my shoes off and propping my board up against the wall
"Come in here sweetie, i want to talk to you about something." mom says. I follow her voice and find that she is standing in the kitchen.
"What's up mom?" I ask while heading toward the pantry and pulling out a bag of chips.
"Well first off, how was your first day at your new school?" she asked, picking up the cup of coffee that i didn't realize she had.
"It was actually pretty good, I made a few friends actually and didn't embarrass myself... that much so i think that's a plus.'' I say then stuff my face with chips.
"Oh well that great honey. Your day should be back from work in about two hours or so." she informed me.
"Okay" i said
"So, um. i know me and your father agreed to let you stay here while we are gone and that is totally fine but we just want to make sure that you will be okay..." she didn't get to finish because i cut her off.
"I'll be fine mom, yall dont have to worry about me, I can take care of myself." I tell her, walking to the fridge and taking out a bottle of water. I have no idea where she is going with this conversation but i guess i should let her finish talking.
"I know you can but i just want to be extra sure-"
"Aunt Cindy said that she will be here so i'll have her.-"
