Mia POV

The worst thing happened the night we left Caroline's hospital room. Katherine got to her when we were gone and killed her, making her transition. We took Caroline under our wing, my dad tried killing her the first time but I put that to an end real quick.

We taught her the basics and I guilted Bonnie into making Caroline a daylight ring. Caroline's been staying with us so she doesn't have to hide around her mom until she's perfected her vampirism.

I've been trying to get a hold of Tyler but he's been ignoring me, rightfully so but I needed to check up on him before the funeral.

I held my flowers to my chest as I knocked on Tyler's front door. News of Mayor Lockwood spread and tomorrow was his funeral. Tyler had begged me to let him grieve alone but I needed to say something to him. I needed him to know I was here for him and his mom.

Carol opened the door and I saw that she's been crying. "Oh, hi Amelia. Please come on in."

I handed her the flowers, "I got these for you. I'm so sorry for your loss, Mrs Lockwood. I've been trying to get ahold of Tyler but he's been ignoring my calls."

"He's going through it. His uncle Mason has been helping him, but I'll tell Tyler to come down okay?"

I thanked her and she left up the stairs. I smelt someone coming behind me and turned to see a guy, in his 20s but I could tell he was actually a wolf. "So you're the Mia my nephew talks about. You're a vampire huh."

"My dad already told me about how you tried asking for peace. I'm sorry he tried killing you with silver. I haven't been keeping up with the whole wolf/vampire drama, Tyler's my only concern."

"If you try hurting him, I'll find you." Mason threatened and I glared at him.

"Be lucky I'm not ripping out your heart for attacking my uncle and Caroline. Only reason you're breathing right now is because I know the real reason you're helping Tyler."

"I don't want this curse for him. He may have the gene but he won't activate the curse. I'll make sure of it." I nodded and went to go up the stairs when he gripped my arm. "Your dad may be my enemy, but I never meant to hurt Caroline. I can't help it when I'm a wolf, so how about we refrain from being enemies."

"If you try killing my dad or uncle, I can't promise peace. I care for Tyler, but don't think for one second I won't kill you if you try exposing us."

"What the hells going on here?" We looked up to see Tyler glaring at Mason, who was still gripping my arm. "Let go of Mia." Mason let go and left the room. "What the hell are you doing here?"

I understand he's not himself right now but I wanted to bitch slap him so bad for being rude right now.

"Tyler!" His mom scolded from the top of the stairs. "Mia was just being kind to bring flowers and check on you."

"Well I'm fine. Now you can go." He went over to the front door, holding it open with an expressionless face.

"No Mrs Lockwood," I stopped her when she went to scold him again. "I understand. I'll see you tomorrow." I quickly left the house, ignoring Tyler's face and went to my car.

I drove home and felt horrible. I don't know what I did to make Tyler upset with me, but I wouldn't confront him about it. He's going through a lot and the last thing he needs is me.

I hung out with Caroline the whole day and soon it was time to wake up for the funeral. I didn't attend the church part, but I went afterwards to give flowers with my family.

"Thank you." Mrs Lockwood hugged me and I went to find my dad. I stopped when I saw Tyler drinking from a glass alone in the study, confusion and anger written over him.

"Tyler?" I walked inside the room, closing it behind us and he snapped his head up, softening his glare. "What are you doing?"

"Drinking? It's my dads fucking funeral, Mia." I flinched from the tone. "I'm sorry. It's just, I'm going through something with my uncle. I can't talk about it but it's just bugging me. I also lost my dad, even though I hated him most days, he was still my dad."

"I'm sorry." I sat next to him, rubbing his back.

"No I'm sorry. You've done nothing to earn my attitude. I shouldn't have been such a dick to you."

"Have you met Damon?" I joked and he chuckled, nodding as he finished his drink. "I'm here for you, okay?"

He nodded and grabbed my hand, playing with my fingers gently. "We should go-"

"Wait. A few more minutes please? I'm not looking forward to the whole town giving me pity looks and condolences."

I nodded and kept quiet as he played with my fingers, putting my hand between his and holding it to his head. I frowned at how he looked like he wanted to open up about his wolf problems, but thought I was human and wouldn't understand.

We left the room and I widened my eyes when I heard my dad coughing hard outside. I saw Liz walk outside and call for backup. A hand clamped over my mouth and I widened my eyes as I was pulled away.

"Shh." Caroline whispered to me and I relaxed. "They're taking them and we can't let them notice you. Mason told her about you and your family."

"He's dead." I grumbled as we waited before leaving out the house to go find them. Of course, nosy ass Elena couldn't help herself as she followed us and I badly wanted to use my speed to lose her.

"Well well well," I turned and saw Mason come out from beside the tree. I could hear Liz shooting my dad and uncle down in the old Lockwood cellar and I glared at him. "I wouldn't go down there if I were you."

I went to run at him, but he gripped Elena, threatening to snap her neck. Before I could beg him to do me the favor, Caroline ran at him and basically handed him his ass so I could run downstairs with Elena and help my family.

I killed the two cops but I promised Caroline I wouldn't kill her mom. Caroline tossed Mason down into the cellar and her mom looked horrified as she realized Caroline was a vampire.

My dad chained up Mason as Stefan took care of the bodies and Caroline took Liz to our house to lock her in the cellar so vervain could pass and we could compel her to forget everything.
