A/N

Both Y/N and Kokichi are of legal drinking age and this one shot doesn't have the canon killing game happen, have a nice day and thanks for reading!

Y/N's POV

Geez, Kokichi—why'd you drink so much today? I sigh, slowly helping the drunken man up from his seat. We're co-workers and occasionally, we come to a bar to eat and hangout with our fellow co-workers after work. He usually never drinks enough to get drunk, but he probably got bored of his drinking games and decided to actually play the game.

"Y/N, do you need any help taking Kokichi home? I can call for a taxi," Drew, the co-worker who stayed behind with Kokichi, proposes.

I shake my head. "It's alright, I brought my car with me. It's just parked two blocks away, so it'll be quick."

"Aheh"—hic!—"Y-Y/N! My beeeestest friend in the whOOOOOle world!" Kokichi butts in, his legs wobbling around as he finally gets up.

"Yes, it's me, Kokichi. Come on, let's get you back home," I begin to walk, holding onto him to ensure he doesn't fall.

"Here, I'll help him," Drew starts as he supports Kokichi's drunken state. "It isn't fair that the others called you to pick him up and then leave after all, so I should do my part."

I smile at him. "Thanks, I appreciate it."

We make our way out of the bar without any huge fusses from the childish man. I've always thought of him as a daring guy, someone who's not scared to speak out about things that normally people would never dream to like the underlying intentions of people. We've been good friends since college and I'm so grateful that we even met at all. Sure, he tends to be troublesome with his constant lies, but he says them out of goodwill and due to his childish antics.

I've learned a lot about him as a person and I've even grown from his insight. Of course, we disagree from time to time because people naturally have different opinions and we should all respect one another's. Although, I suppose that in this adult stage of life, it gets increasingly difficult to make friends and find that special someone in your life. I'm sure that Kokichi has his eyes on his goals more than a lifelong partner, but I can't help but to have feelings for him.

Truthfully, I've tried for a while now to hide my feelings. I'd say that I'm doing a pretty decent job except for a couple of excessively embarrassing mishaps like the week I bought him grape soda every day when he complained he didn't have enough sugar to last him. Oh, and all the sappy birthday gift cards for him that I wrote at the start of this crush. In college, I even spent most of my time with him to be honest.

"So...sleeeeeepy, can't s-sleep...must doooo—world domi—nation!" His voice breaks my train of thought. Kokichi's just blabbing out his usual "I'm going to conquer this entire world" schtick.

"Willll, I want water, pleaaaaaase!" He hiccups, nearly tripping. "Woaaah! Hahaha! Almost fell and died! L-M-F-A-O!"

"H-Hey! Be a little more careful, Kokichi!" I tighten my grasp on him. He's always had a knack for getting into near-death situations, it's really dumb.

Drew sighs. "He's really lucky to have you, you know that?"

We reach my car at last, reaching my keys to open the car. "He sure is, if not for me, he'd probably be in the hospital plenty more than just two times this year." The car door opens up and we slowly force the guy inside. Kokichi leans back on the seat, looking at us. He grins that lovable smile of his, who would've known that I had a thing for cute smiles from a child-like male? He turns away and acts like he's fallen asleep, I think so at least.

"Thanks for helping me with him, have a good night, Drew," I smile and wave a goodbye as I walk to the driver's seat.

"Ah—before you go, could you hear me out something?" He asks as I'm about to open the door. I turn back to him. "What is it?"

"I'll get straight to the point. For a while, I've had feelings for you, but you like Kokichi, don't you?" He smiles softly.

GOD DAMN IT.

"I-I...yeah, please, don't tell him! I'm really sorry, but I just can't quite accept your feelings," I apologize quickly. NOOOO, I WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH AT HIDING MY FEELINGS. HOW MANY PEOPLE KNOW?? DAMN.

He runs a hand through his hair and just sighs. "I figured, I just wanted a chance to get those feelings of mine off my chest. Don't worry about it, I won't tell him anything," he holds out his arms as an offering. "Could I at least get a hug from you? This will probably hurt me later, but hey, physical reassurance is reassurance nonetheless."

I laugh, returning the hug. "Alright, but don't come crying to me later when your heart's totally broken by my rejection," I pat his back before we let go of one another.

"Good night Y/N, get home safely," he waves goodbye with a sad smile while walking away.

I nod and get into the driver's seat, inserting the keys and driving to Kokichi's place.

"Y/N! You're"—hic!—"wondering why I got suuuuper drunk, yeaaaaa?" In the back seat, Kokichi sways as I make a few swift turns.

"Mhm, why'd you do it? A drinking game?"

Hic! "Nooooooo...not completely. Quick game, guess who didn't bring their house keeeeey!" He laughs knowing fully well that I can't lock pick doors unlike him.

"Wh- why not?? You need to go home," I look at his reflection in the top of the car mirror.

He grins cheekily as he stares into the reflection. "Youuuuu have sooooommmmeeething of mine at your place!"

"What?? I didn't borrow anything from you as of late, and I already returned your jacket two days ago." I am genuinely confused.

"You'll see what it is"—hic!—"there!" He slouches back and closes his eyes, pretending to snooze off again while saying loud "Z"s.

I sigh it off and instead change the way to go to my apartment. When we arrive, Kokichi attempts to open the door only to fall onto the ground. "Ow! Painful!" He laughs it off as he tries to get up repeatedly.

I rush out, trying to help him get up. "K-Kokichi, just hold onto me, and be more careful," I drag him into my home. I bring him into the bedroom and let him crash on my bed. "You stay there, I'll get the floor-bed-setup." I rummage through my closet for the spare "bed" layout for when someone needed to sleepover.

"Nooooo, just stay with me!" He whiningly shouts out, sitting up and tries to reach his arms out to me. "We"—hic!—"have been friends for so long—I'm likeeee a bro-brotha-brother, yeaaaa?"

Hahahaha, I wish. I look over at him.

"No. I...don't want to be a brother. Today—I got drunk.....so I wouldn't compleeeetely lie to avoid telling you something veryveryveryyyyyyy important. Or not, I don't know if it realllyyyy is." He looks over at me with a serious, yet soft expression. I don't often get to see this side of him, so whatever it is, it's gotta be serious.

"Aaaahh...I like you, ahahah!" He starts laughing, looking away from me. "If youuuu...want me to be your boyfriend, come rest in bed with me! If not...I'll forget all of this by tomorrow morning!" Kokichi instantly drops back into bed, covering himself with the blanket.

Say what now. This man, this. Ohhh, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FEEL??? Drinking so you can admit your honest feelings when you're a top-notch liar...what's with today? How am I getting two confessions? No, I shouldn't think about that.

I'm...happy truthfully. I smile as my cheeks get warm. Tiptoeing over to the bed, I carefully lie beside him and hug him. "Sleep well, my dearest boyfriend."
