Y/N
You have been feeling really stressed and worn out lately. You've got a few exams coming up and your job on top of your head. All you want is some peace and quiet to recollect all your thoughts.
So, what do you do? You go to the only place where you know you can actually breathe and think clearly without having to give it a second thought.
The rooftop.
Anytime you felt like that the world was against you in any way, you would climb up to the rooftop of your house and just sit there, gazing up at the dark night sky that was filled with the bright stars and the illuminated moon.
Your family and friends are always there for you no matter what, but sometimes having some alone time isn't all that bad. It gives you peace and comfort which is all you need in the moment.
You crawl up the ladder and carefully walk on the roof, sitting down carefully and staring up at the sky, taking in all that it can offer you tonight.
You let the tears roll down your face and you finally felt stress free in the moment. Crying doesn't make a person weak, just shows that everyone is human and that we all can't keep everything bottled up for a long amount of time.
You wipe the stray tears, letting the night air console your wild emotions.
Out of nowhere, a rustling sound could be heard from your left side and you turn your head, laying your eyes on dark orbs that were staring right back at you.
As cliche as it sounds, time stood still for a second as you were staring at the dark haired boy. He was that gorgeous. You felt your cheeks heat up slightly. His eyes shifted to the sky briefly before landing back on you, making your breath hitch a bit in your throat.
He was wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans, black leather jacket and black trainers. He was holding his legs up to his chest and you swallow slightly.
"Hey." He says quietly, briefly waving at you.
"Hi."
He looks at the sky again as you copy his actions and you hear him ask. "Need a breather as well?"
You nod your head at him even though you know he can't see you. "You have no idea."
"I can imagine, but you're gonna be okay." He softly reassures you and you take in a deep breath. "May not be now, but you will in the future and that's a promise."
"Thank you and same to you as well." You reply under your breath, grateful for what he had said. "I don't know what you're going through, but I hope that you're fine as well."
He nods his head as a way of saying thank you and turns his head back up to the dark sky. You do the same and notice that the stars are more dispersed than usual, but they still look breathtaking as ever.
You both were sitting in peaceful silence for a few moments, soaking up the emotions you both are reflecting into the air.
"Gavin." He breaks the silence. "I'm Gavin."
"Y/N." You reply. "You just moved here?"
"Yeah, from Oregon."
A small tear glides down his cheek and he quickly wiped it away with his forearm.
"You miss the place, don't you?"
He nods his head at your question and you both fell silent again, not knowing what to say back to him.
"It's where everything happy was for me, but I'm ready to make new memories here." He chuckles wryly. "I know it's a dumb thing to be upset over, but I don't want to lose everything that it did for me."
"We can both have a crying session." You say, making him chuckle again slightly and you felt like you had completed a mission that he was laughing even though you don't know him. "Not every new thing has to be a bad thing."
"What about you?" He asks, turning the topic onto you.
"What about me?"
"Why are you up here?"
You sigh audibly, rubbing your forehead slightly before answering his question.
"School and work is slowly getting to me and I just need some time to myself so I can relax."
"Don't push yourself too hard. There's only so much a person can do and even if it's small, it's still something."
"Thank you." You tell him again. "That actually quite means a lot to me."
You were about to say something else to him, but you notice that he was gone.
Upset over the fact that you didn't get to know more about Gavin, you decide to get up and head back inside, resuming your studying.
You climb down the ladder and enter your room, flopping down on your bed in exhaustion from the tiring day.
A knock on your bedroom door is what kept you from falling asleep right then and there on your bed.
"Y/n?" Your mum calls and you lift your head up from the covers. "There's someone at the door for you."
She smiles before retreating back downstairs, leaving your door opened ajar.
You look around your in confusion, using all your strength that's left in your body to get back up and go downstairs.
You open your front door and see Gavin standing there. Your eyes widen a bit, not expecting to see him at the door.
You were a bit scared about why he was here so you close the door behind you and ask.
"Hey, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I am." He starts, "I just-" He cuts himself off and wraps his arms around your waist.
At first you were in shock, but then you hugged him back, holding him tightly. You both stood there in front of your front door with each other in your arms.
You both didn't care that you were strangers to each other, but it felt like you knew each other for forever.
