Y/N

"Don't be so nervous." You say, fixing Gavin's collar.

Your parents had invited you and Gavin over for lunch and this will be the first time that Gavin has met them.

"I can't help it." Gavin says, nervously adjusting his black blazer. "I'm meeting your parents for the first time and I want to make a good impression."

"They've heard plenty of good things about you."

"Yeah, from you, but I still need to make a good impression and show them that I'm not a crappy guy."

"Gavin, take a chill pill and calm down." You say to him, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. "My parents won't bite you."

He takes a deep breath. "What do I say if your dad asks me a question?"

"You answer the question like any other person would."

"Right and your mum?"

You roll your eyes , ignoring his dumb questions and you knock on the front door of your childhood home, waiting patiently for one of your parents to answer the door.

"I can't believe you just knocked!" He gasped, and you roll your eyes again.

You give him a weird look. "Well, what else was I supposed to do? I kind of need to knock to enter the house."

"What if they hate me?"

"They won't hate you. They are very excited to meet you." You tell him quickly as the front door opened frantically.

"Y/N!" Your mum exclaims, wrapping her arms around you protectively and you immediately hug her back. "You made it!"

She pulls back and quickly places a soft kiss on your forehead before turning to look at Gavin, who looked like he a nervous wreck.

Gavin sticks his hand out for her to shake it. "Hi, Mrs Y/L/N, it's lovely to finally meet you."

Your mum just looks at his hand for a few seconds before letting out a chuckle and she wraps her arms around Gavin into a hug as well.

"It's lovely to meet you as well, Gavin." She pulls back and Gavin squeezes your hand. "Y/N has told her father and I so many things about you and we can't wait to learn more, but before that, come on in. It's getting quite cold now."

"Thank you." Gavin says gratefully, taking his blazer off and putting it up.

You do the same and close the front door so you both can warm up. Your mum excuses herself to check on the food and you turn to look at Gavin with raised brows.

"So, you still nervous?" You ask him, smirking.

"Not as nervous as I was about five minutes ago, but I still haven't met your dad."

"Sorry to have kept you waiting." A deep voice from behind you said and you knows straight away who it belongs to.

You turned around quickly and hugged your dad, greeting him in the process. You both let go and you motion at Gavin with your eyes from him to say something. He sticks his hand out in front of your dad.

"Hello, Mr Y/L/N. My name is Gavin and it's nice to finally meet you."

Your dad eyes him up and down for a moment, and you wanted the ground to swallow you up. You love that your dad is overprotective, but only in certain situations and this was definitely not one of them.

You nudge your dad with your elbow and he lazily shakes Gavin's hand, making you look at Gavin with apologetic eyes.

"Lunch is ready!" You hear your mum say from the kitchen and your dad walks away without saying anything.
