... Weight. Heavy weight pitter-pattered against my chest, a lighter weight pressing against my face. Eyes fluttering open from slumber, my eyes adjusted to the bright lights, watching as Aesop peered down towards me.
"...Are you awake now, Eli Clark? Took you long enough.." The demon grumbled underneath his breath, retracting his gloved hands from my face.
"..Mhm.." I paused, sitting up fully upon my bed, rubbing at my eyes. I was still really tired, jeez.
I mean, we did perform the ritual at .. 3 am or so. Speaking of the ritual — I still hadn't let the others know about Aesop, which .. was a pretty big deal. He was a demon and all ..
"..Right, so.. I'm not into sure how this'll go.. School and stuff — but I think I can just bring you along..? It shouldn't be too big of a deal."
I yawned into the palm of my hand, stumbling over to my closet, grabbing clothes as I looked toward the other, waiting for any feedback."...I suppose that will be fine. It seems.. better than staying here with that.. winged beast." The demon sat on my bed, cross-legged, glaring at me.
"..yeah." I chuckled as I slipped my head through my hoodie, deciding to just lay it over my shirt. I glanced towards Aesop - and suddenly, I had an idea.
I pulled out a black article of clothing from the depths of my closet, it was a trench coat. I remember it being rather big on me, but for what I had in mind, I figured it would work.
"Aesop, uh - here. You can wear that. And it kinda matches with the stuff you already have on, so." I held out the coat towards him, giving a light smile.
Skeptically, he grabbed the coat from my grasp, holding it as it draped against his hands. He slipped it on quickly, standing as he examined himself in a nearby mirror, "..I suppose this is fine."
"Good," I gave a nod, gathering up my things - so my phone, headphones, and bag. I gestured toward the door of my bedroom, glancing between Aesop and the door.
Needless to say, he got the hint and exited the room with me, closing the door behind him.
We entered the living room, I fed Brooke - to which he didn't appreciate the gesture. I grabbed my keys and left the apartment, locking the door."..It's just a long walk - so, c'mon." I held out a hand, quickly letting it fall as I walked, checking behind me occasionally, making sure the other was still following.
We walked.. And walked.. And walked. I popped in my earbuds, humming with the soft melody flowing from them. Aesop took note of this, I noticed - as he just.. stared.
I chuckled, taking out one of the earbuds, popping it into his ear, "..There you go. We're.. Almost there, by the way. Just a bit more."
He simply nodded in response, pressing the earbud into his ear, listening to the music intently.
The closer we got, the more. Reality sunk in. Aesop was a demon - we summoned him. And now I was taking him to school.
The more I think about it, the less real it sounds.
