What?, Lauren screamed in her head.

"That surprising, huh?", Camila asked.

"Of course, I mean, she's still undergoing the debriefing pro-", Lauren's head spun.

It was just a debriefing program but why were the IVs attached to Y/N the last time I saw her screams nothing like that?

"Something isn't right here.", said she. "We are prosecuting Y/N who's in a debriefing program since she got back from that operation, she hasn't be out how could she murder someone? Something really is totally unfit here.", she added while reaching out to her pocket to phone the director.

"Call him if you wanted to, he'd tell you the very same thing. You must trust me, if you wanted to free her in no time."

"Don't fool me, you are the DA of course you're gonna prosecute her."

"All you have to do is trust me, Lauren. For old times sake.", Lauren felt her ears perked up.

"Camila... I mean, Atty. this discussion is for business matter only right? So stop bringing that up.", Camila flawlessly glided from her seat to Lauren's side. She kneeled and held Lauren's warm hand.

"Lauren, I was foolish back then. I'm so sorry I can't help it, the woman who kept on leaving me speechless everytime and to the one who always has my heart."

"I'm sure your boyfriend would not want to hear that.", her face smoothened as she held Camila's hand gesturing her to stand up.

"Says the girl who stole my heart back in middle school and still has it now."

"W-what do you mean? I'm not gonna fall for that. I loved you for a reason, we were together for years before and it is just logical for you to leave me without a reason. I know that already and you don't have to shove it down my throat."

"Your sarcasm won't work on me, you know why I left?"

"Yeah because you are selfish!", Lauren said with an emphasis on the last word.

"Oh Lauren, I was young! We both were. I have one reason. Hear me out, please."

"No, enough of it. I don't want to hear it!", she said now enraged with fury in her eyes.

The petite Latina stood up with a threshold of tears forming around her brown eyes. Her lips shaking from the encounter, with a difficulty trying to form another word she spoke.

"Lauren, you were the best thing that happened to me. And I'm sorry if I ever hurt and made you feel so awful. I never meant to... yes I am guilty of leaving you. I left because I had to..."

"Yeah because like I said you were selfish.", Lauren interrupted.

"Hear me out for a moment, please. I loved you and I still do, I left because I was meant to do it. I can't have you lose your familial ties just because of me. I know you weren't outed to your family. And you can't do it because you're afraid. I felt like the burden was on me too, I felt like I am the one causing you to hurt because you can't be yourself around them. That's the last thing in the world that I would want."

"That's your reason? You left me because of my fucking fear of getting outed to my family?! You are so dumb, selfish, and... And...", Lauren paused because of Camila's silent cries.

She saw the brunette trembling in fear, she knew Camila grew up in a place where pain is the only option you can have to save yourself from more pain. Beaten up from head to foot when she was growing up, raped by her stepdad once or twice or maybe Camila lost count of it, tried to escape only to find out she won't be going anywhere while her stepdad is still alive.

Camila's past seemed like it only happened a few days ago due to her reaction to Lauren's anger.

"Hey, look I'm sorry I shouldn't have get mad at you. It was a long time ago and I'm sorry."

"No... Lauren. I'm used to it, I'm alright.", Camila said while trying to succumb her tears.

"Camila, no matter how life fucks us harder, no one is used to pain. No one. So, I'm sorry. Give it here.", she opened her arms ready engulf Camila with her warm, pale touch.

"Thank you... You know, judging on your skin, you look cold and mysterious and dangerous but with your touch. It feels so soothing, the total opposite. You never changed."

"Thanks, I guess?"

"Thank YOU."

They gave each other a moment to catch up on what's happening, when Camila broke the silence.

"Are we good now?"

"We can work this out, I think so. Like we used to, right?"

"That's exactly what I mean.", Camila playfully shoved Lauren that caused the latter one to giggle.

Camila discussed everything to Lauren. From the part where Y/N committed a murder the night after the Debbie's death, which Lauren thinks is impossible because it had been days since she's seen Y/N around but the possibility can't be eliminated. Lauren thought she has her eyes on Y/N literally and figuratively but no, she doesn't.

Lauren was convinced that Y/N did something. But can she really agree that Y/N can kill someone? A family for the record?

With all the evidences Camila has presented, there is no point in protesting against her and Camila would never lie to her, after everything they've been through.

"So Lauren, will you help me?"

"What do I do?"

"Nothing, just trust me and all of this will fall back into place."

"How am I going to do that? Is the department supposed to agree with the DA? What's in it for Y/N? How is Y/N gonna protect herself?"

"All you think about is Y/N, I'm getting jealous. I am here to prove to you that she is guilty."

"Then? What if she isn't?"

"She is. That's why here right now being a good girl and listening to me.", Camila said slightly pissed off.

"What if-"

"Forget about her for a second, will you?! This is getting so irritating! Will you listen to me or not? Aren't you forgetting something?"

"I'm sorry, Atty. I should've known better."

"The evidences that I got here are undeniably good, her handgun, her fingerprints on the handgun. Her blood on the victim's body and clothes. The body was found near a dumpster."

"A Jane Doe?"

"No, Ralph Mustavo, a rapist. Raped more than a hundred women including little girls. A drug addict but he was never convicted due to the reasons that I don't have any idea what are those."

"Woah, don't you think he deserved it? Y/N will do everything for the justice to be served to the criminals. I know that."

"But killing people? If the rapist died, will it become right? Is that how you perceive justice? But if he was arrested and put to trial, then the appropriate punishment will be sanctioned to him. Ending lives would never be right."

"You have a point. But-"

"Come on, until now? You look a little bit knackered already, can we go out for some drinks downtown? This is so stressful. My treat."

Lauren nodded in agreement, Camila didn't waste anytime to be farther from Lauren ever again now that they've forgiven each other. Maybe they could rekindle the spark that faded away years ago.

The green-eyed gal forgot about Y/N for a while, the time she saw Y/N and Grace kissing is the last time she'd be hurt, she promised herself that.

Lauren's POV

It's time to forget these butterflies that I have for Y/N.

Why lit a new soaked candle if I can lit the old ones I have?

Besides, Camila is special to me. Like she has a place in my heart that no one can replace. It's reserved for her from then until now. She's my bestfriend in the first place before we even became lovers.
