Your team just finished closing a case earlier today and you are standing outside the HQ while sipping your evening coffee. Work now is getting boring as hell, receive a report, trace the suspects, look for evidences and arrest the criminal.
It's like a cycle.
No fun at all but you are still stuck here because of something, you like the idea of having the authority to protect the innocent and bring justice to the one who needed it most.
You were about to go home when Agent Bradley Simpson called you.
"Boss, there's a call from the director.", Simpson said interrupting your thoughts.
"Okay I'll take it, thanks.", you replied as you went to your office where the telephone is.
"Agent, take your team with you and back up the police force outside the presidential house in case the rallying becomes too much to handle."
"But Sir, we are focusing on the investigations and there isn't a crime committed there yet, ri-", you were cut off by the Director, too rude.
"Just do what I asked you to do."
"Yes, Sir. We will be there, copy."
Ugh, another one.
"So the Director told me we are going to assist the local police force barricading the presidential house in case the situation escalates. No questions. Put your vests on and let's go.", I ordered them.
"Are we really going tonight without, Agent Jauregui?", Simpson asked.
"What do you mean? She's not here yet? Did she leave any message to anyone of you that she will not be here today?", your team except Jauregui of course, fell silent.
"We will be leaving with or without Lauren. Let's go.", irritated, you drove all the way to the presidential house with the team.
*Hi, this is Lauren. I am currently unavailable but please leave me a message*, it went straight to voicemail.
"If anyone gets to hear from Jauregui, call me immediately."
"Yes, boss.", they answered like robots.
The team reached the house and were welcomed by the head of the barricade team, you shook hands and you told him that if your team could be of any assistance you would be around. You went to your posts and stood there like trees.
You should be in your house right now reading your favorite George R.R. Martin book series but here you are in peaceful rally expecting something bad might happen. These people are smiling to all of you like long lost friends, what's the worst that could happen?"AAAAAAAAGGGHHHH", you winced in pain then you felt that something is dripping from your head.
They sounded the police car mobile indicating that there is an emergency situation. You sat on the cold pavement touching the wet substance on your head, you looked at your hand to see what it is.
Blood.
"There is a medical emergency in front of the presidential house, an agent's head in currently bleeding due to an impact to the head."
Everything was starting to be blurry but you saw the leader of the barricade team calling 911. The situation escalated. The barricade team started to teargas the peaceful protesters. This is chaos. My team, where the hell are they? Are they okay? You tried getting up and you ran to other police men who are beating the people with their clubs. Most of the protesters were throwing glass bottles to the police force.
"Stop! Stop! I am ordering all of you to retreat! I said, back off!", you don't know if someone could hear you but you shouted it anyway.
And now Jauregui is calling you on your mobile phone, you picked it up.
"What is it? Where are you? Mind if you get your ass here? Call for backup an-"
"Boss, I am here for the protest."
"What? What the fuck are you saying? GET HERE NOW!"
"I can't, I mean, I don't know."
"Fuck it then. Save yourself but please do call for back up."
"No, I can't leav-", you ended the phone call.
Darn it.
How can you help to stop this?
You held your gun and fired the warning shots. Everyone stopped, looking at you in confusion.
"Please stop.", you said before falling unconsciously on the ground.
_______________You woke up to someone caressing your right hand.
"Boss, I am so sorry."
"Agent Jauregui? Where am I?"
"You fell and I carried you to the ambulance stationed just across the street. You are in the hospital now." you looked at your left hand full of IV drips, the sight made you feel weak so you pulled everything that were attached to your hand.
Lauren gasped.
"You should stay in bed, boss.", she said.
"Who are you to command me? I thought you did not come to work today because you are sick but I was wrong, you were at the protest being selfish as shit! Yes, you should definitely stand for what you believe in but it is not fair to leave your mates behind without notice!"
You felt nothing but before you could leave the hospital room, you felt an agonizing pain in your head. Lauren ran after you and forcibly pulled you by the hand back to the room.
"Fucking hell! How did I become selfish when I am peacefully protesting with the others for the common good? Stay here, you!", Lauren's voice made you sit on the couch with a suprised face.
"What's your problem? I just wanted you to be home safe, it is okay if you slack off and never wanted to go to work today but being there where the danger is about to happen? No! You shouldn't be there. Why do you keep endangering yourself and you have the nerve now to cuss and shout at your superior? Get the fuck out of here! I don't need you!", your last statement probably hit her hard because you saw tears forming in Lauren's green eyes while she was staring at you.
She nodded silently and left the room.
You dialed Cuevas' number hoping he'd be inside the HQ but he didn't answer so you sent him a text.
"File a case against Agent Lauren Jauregui. First, her absence without leave then charge her with grave disobedience against her superior. Lastly, physical abuse and misconduct."
