It's been a long time coming, coming, coming
Feeling your presence hovering, hovering, hovering
Time that I finally say something, something, something
You're not gonna take this one.. Lie down

But the cold hard truth is
I can make it without you
And the cold hard truth
I've been waiting
I'm waiting
And as I fly away
You fly your life away
'Cause you and I were meant to be alone
Alone
Alone

It's been a long time honey, honey, honey
You shouldn't laugh it's not funny, funny, funny
After I'm done I feel nothing, nothing, nothing
Although I feel naked, certain, certain, babe

Nelly Furtado - Cold Hard Truth ...... (Skye's song  referring to  Bobby)

"Love you sweetheart," Skye's Mum said enveloping her petite daughter in her arms for one last hug.

"Love you too Mum" Skye responded loving the safe feeling it always gave her.

Skye's Mum was always a force to be reckoned with. Mum never let her forget she was the best of both worlds - her strong Maori heritage combined with Highlander moxy.

"E te tamahine aroha, nau mai, haere mai ki te whare," her Mum whispered against her hair before kissing her gently on the temple.

Letting go she turned her bright smile on Henrik for a moment. "He tangata pai koe, whakawhetai ki a koe mo to aroha ki a ia me te mea e tika ana" she said with conviction as she gave him a whirlwind hug then headed out the front door of the flat.

Henrik laughed a bit nervously, "Ummm, what was that?"

Hamish let out a bellowing hearty laugh, "rough translation that's mah wife's way of sayin' welcome tae the family lad!"

Skye's Da clasped Henrik's hand, giving it a confident shake before pulling him into a 'man-hug' and patting him on the back with a few strong highlander thumps.... "Thanks for taking such good care of our Lark."

"What else am I to do sir? She has me wrapped around her pinky finger." Henrik smiled back warmly at the older man as they stepped apart and he laced his arm around Skye's shoulder.

Skye's Da reached out, gently cupping his daughter's cheek and giving it a soft pat. "You've got a good one here leannan," he said, tilting his head in Henrik's direction and giving her a conspiratorial wink.

"Thanks again for a wonderful day Lark."

Leaning down the bear of a man brushed a quick peck to her forehead "love yeh more than tablet we lass!"

Skye rolled her eyes, and laughed, "yeah.... suuuure you do mr. sweet-tooth, keep telling yourself that!"

With a booming laugh the older man turned to Henrik giving him one last clap on the shoulder "she's got her Ma's cheek for sure... good luck son!" then turned, following his wife out the front door.

Closing the door behind them Skye paused for a moment and sighed.

The day had gone wonderfully so far... her parents had arrived around 8am and while the women had set to emptying the contents of the last of the boxes and putting things away in their new home, the men had set out to pick up all of the things that Chelsea had ordered to decorate the flat.

Once they were all together again, Skye and her Mum spent the late morning cooking up an expansive and homemade brunch spread... all organic and from scratch- consisting of quiche, cranberry-lemon scones, mini lemon curd dutch babies with fresh blueberries, eggs benedict, thick cut bacon, smoked salmon, tea, orange juice, and mimosas for the non-pregnant among the group.
