William Byers didn't believe in love. Well not so much didn't believe in it, he just didn't trust it. He'd had too many failed relationships. Well they weren't his relationships, actually it was only one relationship, his parents relationship. And that was bad enough for him to be completely put off relationships. So maybe, not only did he not trust love, he was scared of it. That was, of course, until he met Micheal Wheeler.
