skate park

"y/n, get off your phone you need to go outside for a bit" i hear my mom yell from across the living room

i sigh in slight annoyance and oblige as i slowly get up from the couch, and walk up to my room preparing to put an outfit on that i'm comfortable wearing in the heat and won't make me overheat since i'm planning to go to the skate park about 5 minutes away from my home.

after putting my AirPods in my ears and turning on my playlist that gets me energized, i put my shoes on, say goodbye to my mother and head out of the door making sure i have my keys beforehand.

as i arrived to the skate park, i took a minute to look around to choose which section i would be more comfortable skateboarding in.

as i walked over i skipped the current song that was playing and set my board at the edge getting ready to drop in.

it had been about 10 minutes of me skating around and the park began to get more packed with people, some people who just came with their friends, and some who actually came to skate.

there were two girls skating in the smae section i was, who seemed to had came together from the looks of it, there was a girl with short brown hair, and the other had an electric blue color in her hair. if i'm being honest the girl with blue hair was quite attractive.

i have built a rhythm in how i had been skating but thinking about that blue haired girl made me lose it, which caused me to bump into a body and fall off of my skateboard.

right before i could fall to the ground i felt strong arms wrapped around me and save me from falling and out of instinct, my hands hold on tight to the body that engulfed me.

which just so happened to be the girl i was thinking about moments prior.

she looked at me and flashes a quick smile before saying "you seem distracted, definitely shouldn't be skating right now, it's not safe"

i scoffed at her and before thinking i blurted "yeah i know, it was your fault."

she realizes what i just said and laughs while forcefully saying "how could it possibly be my fault, you're the one who wasn't paying attention to where you were going, you're lucky i was here to save you, you definitely would have broken something"

deciding not to boost her seemingly large ego i just settle for "because your hair distracted me, i don't see a girl with blue hair everyday"

she smirks and looks at me suggestively before offering "well, you have a chance to, if you wanna get to know me?"

now suddenly realizing i'm still wrapped in her arms, i push myself out of them and dust myself off to ease my anxiety.

"listen, let me say this the nice way, okay, i fell, you had quick reaction time, congratulations, you're gifted! that doesn't mean i'm into you though, you must be used to girls who are easy."

after lifting her eyebrows and whistling like she's impressed she deadpans "and you listen, never said you were, just said if you don't know a blue haired girl, let me be her, you seem to think my ego is big but look at you thinking someone wants to get at you all of the time. you know what a friend is? or are you unfamiliar with those too?"

this bitch-

"you know what, don't try to flip this on me as if you weren't holding onto me longer than you needed to, you asked a question, which taking in account our position, could have been seen in a different way, get where i'm coming from."

the unamed girl looked down as if she was thinking but before she could speak i said "what's your name?"

she looked up at me with an unfamiliar look in her eyes and speaks, "i'm billie, and you're right, if i were you i would be thinking the same thing, guess we both just got big egos huh?"

i gave her a side smile and answered "cool, i'm y/n, and yeah, something we should definitely work on." which we both laughed at.

about 5 seconds of silence later billie speaks up with, "okay but can i for real have your number because you're fine as fuck and i'm sick of beating around the bush"

i took a few seconds to pretend i was thinking before just telling her to hand me her phone, which she did quickly.

as i put my contact in, i looked at the time and panicked.

"oh fuck i gotta get home dinner is almost done, listen, text me, okay? talk to you later billie"

after leaving the skatepark and arriving home, i heard a loud ping erupt from my phone

ah, a message from billie.

blue headed bitch 🥶💙🦋: hey, you wanna hang out tomorrow? we can go to this sick vegan donut shop down the street from the skate park, i think you'd love it.

                                 me: of course, i'd love to, thanks for saving me today, i let my ego get in the way and i forgot to actually say i'm really grateful you caught me when you did.

she answered quicker than imagined her to.
