There were only 20 minutes left before Brad and I were going to walk Chris down the aisle so she can marry Taylor, her first and true love. When we thought that everything was going smoothly, we saw Elle walk to the back of the church with Oli. I looked at Brad as he watched them.

"I thought Elle was supposed to help Chris prepare?" I asked Brad, who shook his head.

"We should go to Chris," Brad said, then I nodded my head before going to the room where she was, then we saw her face down in front of the mirror, her chest rising up and down in an uneven rhythm.

"Sweetheart?" I asked, then Chris looked at me with tears coming out of her eyes. Brad and I walked to our daughter, who was starting to sob harder as she stood up. We sandwiched her in a hug, which she returned.

"I'm nervous, mom and dad. Nothing is going according to plan; this is just unacceptable," Chris said, then Brad wiped her tears.

"No, it's not unacceptable; it's okay, sweetheart," Brad told her as we let her sit down, then Brad and I stood in front of her.

"Do you remember when you told us that you wanted to run your grandfather's business instead of being a professional athlete? And that you felt like you were going out of plan back then?" I asked her, then Chris sighed.

"Yes. Pretty much like this, too," Chris admitted, then I smiled.

"But, what happened? You gave it a shot, right? We respected and accepted your decision, helped you as much as we could, and you're more happy in your career now," Brad said, then Chris smiled before nodding her head yes.

"That's because we love you, Cece. Taylor loves you, too, and if you don't think that you're ready to get married now, just be honest with her," I said, then Chris shook her head.

"But that's the thing. I am ready. It's just...I'm scared. If the wedding can't go right, what about our marriage?" Chris asked, then I gave her a sympathetic, sad smile.

"If there's anything I learned from being married to your father, it's that, even when things go wrong, a marriage can't fail unless one of you gives up completely. Today may be a disaster, but this is just the start, Cece. There are other moments in your marriage that can make up for everything that happened today," I said, then Brad smiled as he wiped a tear from Chris's eye.

"Life isn't perfect, sweetheart. But, from this day forth, on the moment you say 'I do,' you'll have someone with you, and that's one of the best things that you'll ever have in life. So what if today is a mess? You have each other," Brad said, then Chris stood up and gave Brad and I a tight hug at the same time. We gently rubbed her back and soothed her as she calmed down, then we pulled apart from the hug.

"You still need to do your hair and to put make-up on," Brad said, then Chris chuckled nervously.

"About that...they bailed last minute. Elle was going to do it, but she isn't here, so," Chris said, then I chuckled as I let her sit down on her chair again, then I looked at Brad.

"By any chance, do you know how to curl hair?" I asked Brad, who smiled.

"I watched my mom do it before. I'll give it a try," Brad said, then I silently thanked him before I brought my make-up kit out of my bag, putting just the right amount of make-up on Chris to highlight her best features, while Brad curled her hair into simple waves before putting her veil and tiara on. When Brad and I were both done, we let Chris look in the mirror, and she was surprised.

"Oh my god," Chris said in admiration, then she stood up from her chair and looked at Brad and I.

"Thank you so much. I'm going to miss living with you two a lot. I might visit every once in a while just for fun," Chris said, then Elle came running in the room.
