Relief poured over me as I watched a familiar mop of curls dashing its way toward me.

"Welcome home," I told Brad, who smiled at me first before giving me a hug, then we looked at each other. He looked tired from the journey, but still as good as ever.

"I missed you so much," Brad said, then I smiled as I squeezed him a little before letting go. Brad looked at me with the biggest smile on his face, then I smiled back at him the same way before getting one of his bags to help him out.

"I got a lot of gifts for the kids, sorry," he said, then I chuckled as I put the bag on my shoulders.

"It's fine. They'll surely enjoy it, anyway," I said, then Brad and I walked to the parking lot. I clicked my car open, then we both put his bags inside before sitting in front and starting our journey home.

"You look tired," I said as I drove, then Brad chuckled.

"Cut me some slack, Roe. I'm supposed to be winding down at this hour," Brad said, then I chuckled back.

"You look distracted, however," Brad noticed, then I sighed. I still didn't know how I was going to tell him what happened, and I kept getting distracted by it.

"Sorry. I just have a lot on my mind," I said, then Brad hummed. I glanced at him and saw that he's also deep in thought.

"I'm worried. Is everything okay?" Brad asked, then I nodded my head nervously.

"Yeah, everything's great," I said, then Brad chuckled to himself.

"Well, if everything is, can you tell me how good the food is at Alefassio's? I've been told that they make great pasta," Brad said, then I immediately felt my heart beating nervously on my chest.

"I...well, I don't think I've been there," I tried to lie, then Brad nodded his head in disbelief.

"Really? Anyway, I heard that they make excellent angel hair pasta. I mean, I don't know about you, but, angel hair? Isn't that what made one of your exes perfect?" Brad said, then I glanced at him and saw that he had a straight face on.

"Brad—" I started, then Brad shook his head.

"No, Roe. I specifically remember you talking about how Matilda's hair was perfect. So, tell me, Roe. Was she perfect? What made you see her again? Was your kiss good?" Brad asked, his tone getting louder and louder every second, then I tightly clenched on the steering wheel.

"You don't understand—" I said, then Brad cut me off.

"Don't understand what, Roe? That you kissed someone else while I was away? That tabloids bombarded me with questions about my cheating wife? That I was working my ass off in England for a business trip while you were playing hooky here at home?" Brad angrily said, then I turned to him.

"Matilda was the one who kissed me first! I pulled away the moment I realized that it was wrong, and I tried to call you about it, but you weren't responding, Brad. I spent the entire night crying and regretting what I did, and, trust me, you have every right to be angry with me, but can you please let me explain before you do?" I told Brad, and when I returned my eyes back on the road, I saw that we were about to hit the car in front of us. I stepped on the brake a little too hard so we won't hit anything, and it seemed to give Brad whiplash since his hand landed on the back of his neck right after the impact.

"Jesus Christ, I just wanna go home in one fucking piece! Can I not trust you with anything anymore?" Brad asked, then I let a tear flow from my eye. I immediately wiped it so Brad wouldn't see, and when traffic was moving, I hurried off and pulled over at the side of the road, turning my hazard lights on as more tears fell from my eyes.
