It was the day of Brad's flight to London, which came sooner than we all thought. Brad already dropped the kids off at school, where they bid him goodbye. I took the day off so that I can accompany Brad to the airport, which he said wasn't really necessary, but I insisted on doing it, anyway.
Brad was doing final checks in his bags when I went down the stairs, pulling my hair into a ponytail as I did so. When I got to him, he looked up and smiled, giving me the hint that he recognized what I was wearing.
"Those were the clothes you were wearing when I proposed to you, right?" Brad said, then I smiled.
"The exact same pink sweatshirt and sky blue pants. Amazingly, even after giving birth to our children, they still fit," I told Brad, who quickly zipped his bag closed and walked toward me, wrapping my waist loosely with his arms.
"I remember taking them off when we got home from the meet-up. You told me to be careful because you wanted to save them," Brad said, then I smiled.
"That's because you mean a lot to me. And since we won't be together on that day this year, I decided to dress the part now, since you are going to where we got engaged, anyway," I said, then Brad leaned over for a kiss, which I returned.
Unfortunately, I still couldn't feel any sparks.
"You're amazing, Roe. Every single inch of you is amazing. And I'm so sorry. I promise that I'll do better next time," Brad said, and even though he said that with his purest emotions, I did not put it in my expectations.
"Well, we should get going if you don't want to be late," I said, then Brad smiled and pulled his arms away. I helped him carry some of his bags to my car, and after putting all of his stuff in the trunk, he and I climbed in the car after locking our house up.
"All good?" Brad asked me from the driver's seat, then I nodded my head and hummed my answer. He insisted to drive us there since he wanted to tire himself out, for he'll be sleeping during the whole flight, which will land at Heathrow Airport when it's 4 AM there.
"By the way, how come you're not with your colleagues? Aren't you supposed to go there together?" I asked Brad, who glanced at me before smirking as he stared at the road.
"Well, I told them that, although this isn't the first time that we'll be apart, this is the first time that we won't celebrate our special anniversary together, so, I told them that I wanted to spend as much time as I can with you, since it's literally the least I can do," Brad said, making me blush. I reached over to hold his right hand, which was on his knee, then I put it on top of my thigh as I gently rubbed it back and forth, making him smile and blush a little.
When we got to the airport, Brad quickly parked the car, then we climbed out with all of his things. We walked to the entrance hand in hand, and when we got to the back of the line, he and I did some final checks.
"Passport?" I asked, then Brad brought it out of his carry-on and showed it to me.
"Check. My boarding pass is the tall paper here," Brad replied, then I nodded my head.
"Wallet?" I asked, then Brad put his passport inside his bag and dug for his wallet, which he brought out.
"Check. Along with the money that I plan to convert," He said, then I thought of other things that he might have forgotten.
"Last message for the kids?" I asked, then Brad smiled as he put his wallet back inside, then he brought his phone out.
"They're in my drafts, but they're all ready to send, so, check," Brad said, then he gave me my car keys, which I put inside the small sling bag I had with me.
