A/N: Guys, if you haven't noticed this is basically the climax of the story, so I'll probably be doing a lot of updating, due to my ideas. ;) Also, I thought you may find it interesting to know, that this story is NOT planned out, I think about what should come next as I write. ;D Hope you enjoy part 12 of 'The good, the bad...and the 'awkward'. Plus, I think you guys should follow this AMAZING author, she's very supportive! *username in dedication*.
Previously on: The good, the bad...and the 'awkward'.
My dreams were anything but wonderful. But that is only to be expected from a girl who is confident that everyone in the world must despise her. I'm sure I could have enjoyed a much better sleep had I been aware of the ONE person who would always be there for me. Little did I know I would be shown light on that subject very, very soon.
Sunday morning I called Shelby up, I explained my plight to her and she agreed to come over right away, I've never been more thankful for a best friend.
Once she had arrived, I explained to her about the scene James and myself had witnessed at Panera's last night. She was all ears, and very sympathetic.
"Yes Delanie. I might as well come clean with you...I've been expecting this for a long while...He's always been such a show off around her, and what did you think about him calling Amber up? That SHOULD have tipped you off right there."
I took this all in meekly, After all...She is right to chastise...I was blind to all the signs. If I had been paying better attention, maybe the ordeal wouldn't have been drug out this long. She continued to talk:
"It's such a shame, you know...I mean, I was able to create you into well...an okay girl. You were truly, and undeniably a catch! But obviously she got to him first..."
At this point, it seemed she wasn't even aware of my presence, It was as if she were speaking to herself.
I still had so many feelings bottled up inside of me. I needed to get them out. So I started to let it all go.
I told Shelby about how I first came into contact with James Montgomery. How he freaked me out. (I wisely removed the part about our fight). How he was there for me when Harrison broke my heart. How I knew there was some sort of secret about him that I wished I could discover, but he never let me near enough to look.
My mixed feelings on this whole ordeal seemed to confuse Shelby.
"Oh my gosh...wait. So all this time you didn't like Harrison....you, you liked that FREAK, Jim...or James, whatever he's called?"
"I don't know." I confessed. "Everything's been so confusing."
Shelby's phone vibrated and she snatched it up, after she glanced at the screen her eyes grew even larger (if that's possible).
"Oh. My. Gosh." She exclaimed. "Well, well, well. Speak of the devil and he shall appear!"
"What is it Shelby?" I attempted to look at her screen, but she pushed me roughly away.
"Delanie Andrews, were you aware of what your little....'Prince' did last night?" A gleam was in her eyes.
"Who? Harrison?" I asked stupidly.
"No, not Harrison!" She spit out. "Who have you been talking about for the past thirty minutes?"
As recognition came into my eyes, she went on.
"That's right. Apparently someone from our school was at Panera last night and witnessed James laying into Harrison. Completely knocked him out."
I gasped. "Oh no! That's not good at all...He'll be in so much trouble, and it's because of me." I groaned.
