"Milo is an old fart who doesn't deserve us caring this much about him." Maddox was sitting in a chair, legs over the arm and back against the other arm. A hand ran through his hair as he redid his high bun.
"You really want to throw him a birthday party bad enough you're insulting him?" Jensen quirked an eyebrow at him.
"I insult him whether I want to throw him a birthday party or not."
"He's easy to insult," Dayna said. "You have to know that, Jens."
"You're terrible friends," Jensen said.
"You insult me all the time," Liberty said.
"I'm a terrible friend too," Jensen said, fighting a small laugh.
Dayna snorted. "There it is."
"You know he'd be okay with staying home and watching as many Rocky movies as he can in one night with Rocky for his birthday, right?" Jensen asked. "He doesn't need a party."
"You called us here to plan a party for him." Dayna brushed her slightly too long bangs out of her face before they immediately fell back. She blew air from her mouth, which seemed to put them enough out of the way that she was content.
"You invited yourselves over and I asked if you were going to visit for Miles' birthday."
"I live here," Maddox said.
"Temporarily," Liberty said.
"And it's the same difference anyway." Dayna waved her hand dismissively.
"I think we have to throw him a party," Maddox said.
"Because?" Jensen asked. Although she wasn't at all opposed to making Miles feel a little more special than any other day. Even if his birthday freaked him out when he thought too hard about it.
"Because it's funny to watch him worry about getting old."
"You're older than him," Jensen said. Because Miles wasn't there to take the opportunity to point it out.
"Minor details, J-Rhodes," Maddox said. Feigned annoyance on his voice.
"As long as you keep inviting yourselves over, there are no minor details."
Maddox made a face at Jensen. "What's got you so... cranky?"
Liberty cleared her throat. It was true that none of them had said a word to anyone about Jensen's pregnancy. The tests were still hidden in her closet where Miles wasn't likely to find them, and everyday since finding out she felt like she was doing damage control from whatever had happened at work that day. It never felt like the right time. Jensen didn't even realize she was being cranky. Maybe that meant it was the right time. She wished by now she'd figured out how to tell people she was pregnant without panicking about it.
"Would you like to see cranky?" Jensen asked. "I can give you cranky, NYC."
Dayna shook her head. Vigorously. Jensen might've been a little insulted had she not agreed with her. "Not worth it, Mads."
"We're also letting you stay here for free while you're filming."
"And I thank you profusely for it and plan on buying a wonderful dinner before I go back to New York."
