An Island in the FogChapter Twelve: An Island in the Fog.
***No one's P.O.V***
As the calm night rolled on, Sophie lead Jack up to the captain's quarters, a room to which was forbidden to enter unless given permission by Blackbeard himself.
The soft swell caused the waves to gently collide upon the ship, creating a peaceful ambience. Although it was late, t'was the time of the night where the moon and stars floated in the sky side by side with the first break of dawn.
Jack followed Sophie eagerly, curious to find out what she was talking about. Sophie turned around and gestured for Jack to be quiet. If either of them were to be caught lurking around, the punishment would be death or quiet possibly worse.
Jack nodded, as Sophie turned the handle to open the door. Concealed behind the oak, wooden door was a wall with shelves from floor to ceiling, with old rum bottles sitting neatly side by side upon everyone. Weirdly enough, each bottle contained a ship. A ship to shrunken scale, sailing through a storm, on a rough, churning sea.
Jack squinted his eyes as he looked on every shelf, trying to work out the odd collection. It didn't take him long to comprehend the situation and as the newly found information clicked, his eyes scanned each shelf trying to find his beloved Pearl.
Once his eyes locked onto the rum bottle the Pearl was trapped in, Jack's heart sank. He sighed deeply in the memory of his precious ship and looked over to Sophie with saddens in his eyes.
Sophie returned his gaze with a sympathetic look, knowing how hard the acceptance of losing his ship was to him.
"Each vanquished ship, he keeps as a prize. If we work together, keep playing our charade... I promise to help get your pick." Sophie declared, placing her hand on her husband's shoulder.
Although he heard her every word, Jack stared at the Pearl's distinctive black sails and upon further exception, a miniature size parrot was seen flapping about next to the crow's nest.
"The Black Pearl. In a bottle, why's my ship in a bottle?" Jack questioned.
Jack stared closely at the ship, taking in all her miniature details. A loud clap of thunder hit Jack, the monkey scurried across the deck of the Pearl and up into the rigging. Suddenly, Jacks face looms large, distorted by the glass and screeches. Jack jumped back and cringed slightly.
"He's even more annoying miniature." Jack claimed as she stared at the little monkey.
"Do we have a deal?" Sophie asked, from behind Jack.
"I know you; you wouldn't take the life from some innocent man." Jack commented, turning around to face his beloved wife.
"By deceiving and manipulating Angelica, Blackbeard will be vanquished." Sophie replied with a rather evil smirk resting on her face.
"I think you've fallen for your own con." Jack responded not entirely sure how else to answer.
"No. The lies I told you, we're not lies." Sophie said. "Black beard cannot continue on and Angelica will be the only person willing to take her life for his, until we make the switch." Sophie explained.
"So, you lied to me by telling the truth? Can I use that?" Jack asked with a sense of proudness in his voice.
"You will anyway." Sophie answered with a smile.
Jack pulled Sophie into his body and wrapped his arm around her waist. He tucked away her hair which had fallen over her cheek and brushed the area with his thumb. Sophie placed her hands on the back of Jack's neck and pulled him closer to her.
