Chapter Eight: Coward?

***No one's P.O.V***

Behind Jack, appears a silhouette of a man, a man most pirates, sailors and privateers feared, a walking nightmare of a man, Captain Edward Teach, otherwise known as Blackbeard. He was wrapped in bandoliers that draped in pistols, surrounded by smoke from the fuses that was intertwined with his Blackbeard, creating a ghostly appearance. He took the last swing from his rum in one swift motion and threw the bottle against the wall, gaining everyone's attention on deck.

The atmosphere surrounding the deck was thick and tense, which could be cut by a knife. A sudden wave of fog surrounded the ship, creating an illustrated drawing you'd find in a child's ghost story. Jack quickly glanced to Sophie who gave him an unpleasant, knowing look.

"Excuse me, Gentleman. I be placed in a bewilderment. There I was, resting and upon a sudden, I hear an ungodly roar on deck. I open my eyes and what do I see?" Blackbeard asked his crew.

Neither one of his crew members dared to questioned him, as they knew if they did, they wouldn't live to tell the tale. After a moment of what felt like a life time, Blackbeard answered his question.

"The Captain's quarters, I be Captain Edward Teach, Blackbeard and, as I am in the Captain's quarters, that would make me as it naturally follows... The captain, dose it not?" Blackbeard asked his crew yet another rhetorical question.

Blackbeard's hand grasped the jewelled handle of his sword, he grips it tightly and at the same time, the ropes uncoil like a snake. Sophie glanced down at her captain's hand and gasped quietly, knowing exactly where this was leading. Good one, Jack. she thought to herself.

"Hence by bewilderment, what of this roar on deck? Sailors abandoning their posts without orders, without leave!" He shouted, growing more annoyed as the seconds ticked by.

In response to his words, amongst the rigging, the ropes had come alive, acting like snakes, slithering around, twisting and curling, moving on their own accord, without gaining the attention of the sailors, going unnoticed.

"Men before the mast, taking the ship frothier own selfish reasons. What be of that, first mate?" Blackbeard asked Sophie. Everyone on deck looked at her.

"Mutiny." She answered. Diverting her eyes and quickly glancing over at Jack finding he was already looking at her.

"Again." Blackbeard ordered her.

"Mutiny, Captain." Sophie responded louder than the before.

"Aye, mutiny. And what be the fate of mutineers? Now we know the answer to that, don't we?" Blackbeard asked his crew. Sophie panicked on the inside, she feared for Jack's life. She knew what happens, she's seen this situation unfold before. He was a ruthless and unforgiving man.

Blackbeard raised his sword into the air and suddenly, the sails of the sip grew wind and the ship lurched forward. Making the pirates cry out and their balance from the sudden motion the ship took. The ropes wrapped around their legs, tightening their grasp making it impossible to fend off. One by one, pirates are hoisted into the air, dragged across the deck and slammed into the bulkheads.

The ropes loosen their hold and the pirates scream as they hung upside down from the unearthly lines above. Anyone who tried to fight their way out, the ropes grew tighter, like a python strangling its victim. Blackbeard controlled the ship itself by his sword, the cannons cut off and ropes are flying in every direction.

The ship itself was like a giant spiderweb made of ropes and rigging, crossing this way and that. All the pirates that were hanging upside down, looked like flies caught in the web or Edward Teach, whether they were going to survive or not, Sophie didn't know. Blackbeard stares at Jack who dangles in front of him, knowing full well Jack was the reason of this mess.
