Chapter five: A Miraculous escape.
Sophie and Jack fought their way to the back of the warehouse, stabbing the barrels of ale as a diversion. As more guards flooded the room, Sophie and Jack were cut off from the main exit.
"We're at a disadvantage." Sophie stated in a voice of slight panic which Jack picked up on instantly. However, he wasn't sure if he wanted to comfort her right now. He was still very confused and unsure of her sudden new attitude, he truly thought he would've been greeted with loving, open arms. Instead, he was greeted with anger and a cold heart.
"We? Speak again. Unlink some who purport to be but cannot in fact hold a candle to, I am Captain Jack Sparrow." Jack proudly announced causing Sophie to roll her eyes at his egotistical remark.
"More like a case of big headedness." She fired back not paying attention nor caring if Jack heard her mumbled words. As she looked up and was greeted with dark, brown eyes already looking at her, she knew her answer.
Jack couldn't believe what he had just heard, he wasn't sure why Sophie was acting this way. But, the more she would give him attitude, the more he too was getting annoyed.
He did his best to ignore her last remark and ignore his feelings altogether. He leaped forward, stabbed another barrel sending more ale to spray out. He took a quick drink while Sophie stepped forward, guarding his back.
"Desperate disease." She stated, resulting yet another strange look from Jack.
"Requires dangerous remedy." He responded.
He took a rope, eyed the celling, slashed another rope close to him ready to fly upwards. Unfortunately, the rope slithered to the ground. Jack moved around to where Sophie was standing, now both of them were standing above the trapped door. Sophie slashed the leaver with her own sword and they fell to the water below.
After a long swim, dodging bullets and arrows, they made it away from the warehouse and reached a dock where they emerged from the water and fell to the floor from exhaustion and still fighting.
"How could you say I'm big headed?" Jack asked in an angry tone, pretending to be hurt from her words.
"You know exactly how." Sophie replied with venom dripping from her words as she glared at him.
"I know, but how." Jack said hoping to improve the situation with his humour. But only managing to receive yet another eyeroll from Sophie.
JACK'S P.O.V
The moment I found her, it felt as if all the wrong in the world fell right. As I found my entire world once again. However, since our little homecoming, she's been acting completely unlike herself. At first, I thought it was her pregnancy hormones, but I know that's not the case.
I wanted her to tell me what was going on, I know she's hiding something from me, what it is? I don't know. What I do know is the more she shuts me down, the more she keeps building this wall between her and I, it's making me retreat.
"Love, please tell me. what's going on? Since we reunited who haven't been acting like the Sophie I know and fell in love with. You're acting like a stranger." I told nay pleaded to her, hoping she would see the situation from my point of view.
Had I let her down in my absence? In the time we had drifted apart, had I disappointed her by letting it happen once again? Had I unfulfilled my promise to her by keeping her in a fairy-tale that's becoming a nightmare?
As much as I wanted to confess to her that this entire situation was idiotic and making me aggravated, I couldn't stop thinking about our kiss we shared moments ago.
