"Do you have a blanket or something around here?" Stevie asked as a chill ran over her body.

"I'm not keeping you warm enough?" Lindsey tightened his hold on her and pressed a kiss to her shoulder dimple.

"Well, you're kind of only keeping my ass and my breasts warm." She replied, hearing him laugh lightly.

"I do have something, I'm sure." Lindsey said and carefully, so he wouldn't press his weight onto her too roughly, he got up and stark naked looked around, scratching the back of his head.

Stevie no longer had to be shy about ogling him. The man was in his 60's for Christ's sake! Maybe she was ought to start running around the stage like a lunatic and take up swimming as well. He'd always been the most handsome man in her eyes. Never in her wildest dreams did she imagine the two of them still being together this way.

"Will this do?" Lindsey unfolded and spread out a blanket for Stevie to examine.

"Yes." She nodded and he squeezed himself back in between her and the couch. She had asked to switch places, because she felt smooshed.

Wrapped up in Lindsey's embrace again, Stevie let out a content sigh. She would have gladly fallen asleep, but he wasn't going to let her. And she didn't want to waste what precious time to themselves they had anyway.

"Is the cowboy single?"

That was the last question Lindsey had expected from Stevie at this exact moment. "Why on earth would you want to talk about that man, Steph?"

Maybe she shouldn't have continued. Maybe she should have allowed them to enjoy the fact things seemed to be okay for a little while. "This isn't going to last, Linds."

"This as in... you and I?"

"Yeah." By no means, Stevie wanted Lindsey to think, she was regretting, what had happened between them, but they'd also been very honest with each other and right now the time was as good as any. "It get's lonely, Linds. Not very often, but I do get lonely sometimes. I think of all the relationships I've had and I wonder if something could have been different, if I maybe had made some different choices, the turnout would be something entirely else. But I'm not unhappy either. My career brings a lot of joy and it keeps me busy." She spoke calmly, her voice didn't tremble as she held his hand close to her chest. "I insist that I don't need anyone, that nobody could really handle my lifestyle, but it's... it's not about falling head over heels in love with someone. It's about having that person, you know, who's not a fan, who's not just a friend, but who cares about you on a deeper, much more meaningful level. Who gets you." Not without a bit of struggle, Stevie managed to turn around in Lindsey's arms and she smiled at him. "Like you. I cherish these moments between us, but we both know that it won't last."

Lindsey, afraid that his emotions would betray his voice, spoke up anyway. If he got chocked up, so be it. "I think about certain choices I've made, too. And if I hadn't made them, would things be different right now." It went against their rules, but... "I love you, you know. Not as a friend. Not just as a friend. I still love you romantically and I want you to know that, to never question it or doubt it."

"I do know." Stevie nodded, smoothing out the wrinkle caused by his slightly creased eyebrows. "And I love you, too. When we get back on stage together, when we sing our love story to all of those people, we'll get to enjoy our love affair for some time without having to hide."

He hated to ask, but he felt like he had to. "Do you want to leave? Is this getting a bit too intense for you?"

"No, I don't want to leave you." Stevie answered without hesitation. "I'd hate myself if I left and this was the last time."

Lindsey wholeheartedly agreed. He kissed her lips gently, then her hair, when she pressed herself closer to him.
