They had a great day, Lindsey thought to himself as he bid Stevie a good night. He couldn't remember the last time they'd spent so much time together and actually had fun. Their conversation was lighthearted, except for a few emotional moments. She opened up to him the way she hadn't for years and in turn he did too. He almost wished the night hadn't ended yet, but it was nearing 1 am and he told here, they were going to start working early the following morning. She laughed at him and closed the door to her room.

Lindsey crept into the master bedroom and was surprised to find Kristen still awake. She didn't lift her eyes up to look at him and he could sense some tension in the air. Lindsey remained quiet as he began undressing, his back turned to his wife. He heard the pages of a magazine being flipped quickly, so he doubted she was actually reading it.

"So, how was your day?" Kristen was the one out of the two to open her mouth first.

"Good, really good." Lindsey added, thinking that maybe he shouldn't have.

"Got a lot done?"

"Uh, well..." He folded his jeans and put them away. "We kind of just listened to some demos. We'll start recording tomorrow."

"It sure took you a long time to listen to some demos."  Kristen emphasized, tossing her magazine away, she crossed her arms over her chest.

Lindsey pulled his t-shirt up and over his head, before he made his way to the bed. "It doesn't happen just like that." He snapped his fingers. "We had to pick out the ones, we're actually going to work on, first."

"I'd love to listen to them."

He swallowed uneasily and got under the covers. "I mean, yeah, sure, when they're done." Lindsey shrugged, fluffing his pillow. "What did you do today?" He asked, changing the subject.

"You know, what I did today." Kristen replied sharply and Lindsey sighed.

"Is there a problem?"

"No." She said. "Goodnight, Lindsey." She reached to turn off the bedside lamp and lay down, facing away from him.

Lindsey lay on his back, hands by his sides. He didn't want to have a fight, he thought about getting closer to cuddle, but he decided against it. The last thing Kristen wanted right now probably was him near her.

Taking a deep breath, Lindsey closed his eyes, hoping he'd drift off soon. He rolled onto his side, trying to find a comfortable positions to sleep in. He wasn't sure, how much time had passed, but he was still very awake. He was hot one minute, pushing the covers down, then cold the next, pulling the covers back up to his neck. He tossed and turned for a while longer, before he swung his legs over the edge of the bed. Looking back over his shoulder at Kristen, he could tell she was sound asleep. Rising to his feet, Lindsey quietly walked out of the room and down the stairs into the kitchen for a glass of water. The house was completely quiet and he envied every person in it, who was sleeping.

Reaching for the handle of the bedroom door, Lindsey noticed the dim light coming from under the door of Stevie's. He didn't have a clue, what time it was, but it didn't really surprise him that she was still awake. For a second, he was torn. Should he, shouldn't he... Taking a few steps further, Lindsey brought his hand up and held it against the door. Before he could change his mind, he knocked.
