The next day came, and I was still in shock after reading the letter Rizza had left in my room. It made me question what someone like her was really doing inside Trosta.
“Shouldn’t they use a vehicle to get to their destination faster?” Rachelle asked as we watched Zy, Zack, and Miya prepare for their scouting mission.
“They need to attract as little attention as possible out there. Using a car would only draw infected or other survivors to them, and that could be deadly, especially considering who we’re dealing with,” David explained.
Straight to the point.
“What makes the Navigators so dangerous, anyway? Other than leading groups of infected wherever they please, which is already terrifying,” I asked.
“Anna and I scouted their old camp once. We saw they had a massive stockpile of guns and ammunition. I don’t know how they got their hands on so many weapons, but that’s what makes them a threat. If we had to go head-to-head with them, we’d lose,” he explained.
That made sense. No wonder he was only sending three people.
“Wait, you’ve scouted their camp before? Why aren’t we heading there now?” Rachelle asked.
“It’s pointless. That camp was abandoned. They’ve moved. This scouting mission is the only way to locate them again,” David replied.
“And what happens when we track them down?”
“We come up with a plan to take their camp out, with as few casualties as possible,” David answered.
It was an ambitious plan, but I supported it. The Navigators were a threat not just to us, but to every survivor out there, struggling day by day just to make it to the next sunrise.
“I just hope the three of them make it back alive. After all, they’re heading into uncharted territory,” he added, his gaze fixed on Miya, Zack, and Zy as they disappeared through the gates of Trosta.
I was about to turn away when I caught Zack’s eye.
He smiled and waved. The thought of them not making it back sent a heavy feeling into my chest.
Be safe...

I took a deep breath and knocked gently on the wooden door.
Rizza’s letter had taken me by surprise, revealing things that could change how everyone thought of her.
I should have gone to David first, but...
“Oh, I didn’t think you’d come,” Rizza said with a smile, peeking out from behind the door.
“I read the letter. I need to know what the hell is going on.”
She nodded slowly and opened the door wider, letting me step inside her cabin.
“Rizza, what’s this all about?” I asked, my voice tense.
She leaned against the wall, raising an eyebrow at me. “What do you mean?”
“Why did you tell me all that?”
A smirk played on her lips as she scratched the back of her neck.
“Oh, that? Well, I figured I might as well reveal my true identity before leaving this place.”
Leaving Trosta?
“Does anyone else know about this?” I asked.
“Nah, just the two of us,” she said with a smile.
