"Your self-worth cannot be determined by a mere scoreboard. It's you who needs to acknowledge that your hard work is valid, not them."
On the drive back to your house, his voice kept ringing in your ear.
It still pissed you off that he had the audacity to say it wasn't his fault things ended up like this. However, his words made you think.
Your family taught you perfection will grant prosperity which is why you pushed yourself to your limit. From Akaashi's perspective, this was wrong.
To be honest, you wanted to side with him, but what happens after?
Your family will treat you like some nobody if you ever said such words to them.
Akaashi Keiji was smart. And you were too. That's all there was to it, but you wanted to be better than him for the sake of your family name.

"I'm home." You said as you replaced your loafers to comfy slippers.
When you made way to your living room, boxes and luggages were scattered around, and a few of your private maids were rushing in and out of your bedroom.
Giving a closer look inside of the boxes, you realize it was your stuff. It worried you what all of this was about. Soon, just in time, your mother walked into the living room.
"Mom, why are all my belongings out of my room?.." You softly asked.
She huffed a breathe before leashing you. "Come, sit with me and your father in the living room."
Her grip was tight, but her hands were warm and soft. You simply followed her orders like the obedient child you were.
"We've decided that you'll be moving with your Aunt in San Francisco, California."
The way your father said that made it seem like it was a joke. Of course, fooling around was not tolerated in the family.
"In America? You wish to send me away?" You inquired to which made your mom scoff.
"Oh please, you're making it sound as if we're disowning you. You'll be attending much better classes over there. It'll guarantee a successful future for you."
Going abroad was never on your mind as well as living with your Aunt. You knew nothing about her yet your parents were willing to sacrifice all this just for you to be a better student and person.
Tokyo was your home. You belonged here.
"But this all so sudden, wouldn't the process for me to obtain visa and all-"
"Don't worry about that." Your father waved a hand. "Everything is covered already."
There's was no excuse you could come up with. Their words were absolute.
