Broken Promises (Old)

Jesse's Pov:

I watched as Stella walked out of Beacontown, leaving Lluna behind with me. It was a treat to know that I had to take care of Lluna. It was as close to Reuben as I could get. If you looked at her you could tell that she had bonded with the group. Alot. It felt normal to have her near my side.

Lukas walked up to me, placing a hand on my shoulder. "She's a weird lady, huh." He referred to the small form of Stella in the distance. I just laughed quietly. "Yeah, but she has her moments."

"She was a real pain back then though." Lukas huffed, wrapping his arms around my waist. Lluna just sat there for a minute before spitting to the side. Many sets of footsteps came up behind them. "Got everything you need?" Jack asked, getting a little sigh in reply. "Yes Jack.."

We both looked back at the group of three. "Wait your leaving right now?" I asked, feeling sadness creep up on me. "Uh yeah. I decided it's a good time to hit the road." Petra shrugged. Lukas buried his face in the crook of my neck, whispering something that sounded like, "What-"

I sighed, looking down at the ground. "It went by so fast." Petra shook her head. "Why are you acting like your never going to see me again-"

"Wait we are never going to see you again?" Olivia came out into the clearing with Axel behind her. "

"I don't want to believe that." Axel sobbed. "Stop being babies." Petra put her face in her hands. "I never said like- any of that."

"Jesseeeee!!" A loud high pitched shout echoed through the clearing, revealing Radar.

"How the living fu- I mean heck do you scream like that." Lukas asked, lifting his head from my neck slowly. "Ow-" Jack covered his ears. "You almost scream as loud as the-"

"Jackkkkkk.." Petra mumbled. "Oops sorry-" Jack sat there looking embarrassed. I look over to Radar, "What do you need?-"

"Well...I wanted to ask you how you like the beautification project looks? I've been working reaaaaalllyyy hard on it!" Radar beamed, looking towards the big floating tower thing. "Really stepping it up to leader mode if I do say so myself!"

"Really proud of you Radar.." I just smile, Lukas mumbling something. "Immmm soooo hoootttttt."

I nudge him a bit, making him stumble backwards as if he was asleep. "WHAT-" Everyone burst out laughing. I walked up to him and gave him a kiss on the forehead. "You are very hot."

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" I hear Radar squeal, making me wheeze. "My god he is one weird little fanboy." I heard Jack comment, making me laugh harder. I put my hands on my knees as I just laughed uncontrollably.

"Is he dying or something-" I heard Petra comment, I take a deep breath, hopping back up. Petra walked slowly towards the gate. "Can we just go to the gate already?" She huffed.

"Why are you so eager to leave...?" Olivia asked, tear's filling her eyes. "I just don't want to be near those crack heads." Petra pointed towards me and Lukas, making me wheeze again, covering my mouth to making myself quiet.

Axel was just sitting on the ground sobbing. "Can we just- hug or something to get this over with..?" Petra rolled her eyes. "Whatever man."

I felt myself being dragged into a hug, consisting of Axel, Olivia, Petra and Lukas. It was just us. It felt like the old days. The treehouse we always hung out in entered my mind. It hurts to know that it had gotten destroyed though.

"Can't breath-- actually dying-" I heard Petra groan, we stepped back, leaving Petra in the middle.

"Is this the last time we are going to be together..?" Axel stated, I looked around at everyone. Anxiety flowed through me. "W-Well....we will always be best friends no matter wh-at..." My voice cracked as I spoke. I felt arms wrap around me, blonde hair touch my face. "Just know that I will never leave you."

I smiled a bit, leaning into him. I felt a hand tap my shoulder and Petra was stood there. "Can we...uh...talk really quick?" I nodded slowly, unwrapping Lukas from me.

I walked forward with Petra, looking at her for a second. "What is it?" I ask, she paused for a second before speaking.

"I know you promised me in the cabin that you would always be there for me but....the invite is still open if you want it.." She mumbled, walking forwards towards the gate. I froze there. "Wait, your leaving to?" Radar's voice spoke for everyone.

I stood there shaking, I could not help but think about leaving Lukas, and everyone behind. But I promised Petra... My breathing sped up rapidly. I brought my hands up to my head and I fell to the ground. "No no no no no no no..." I mumbled, beginning to sob.

I brought my knees up to my chest, curling up into a ball. "Shhhhh...." I heard someone whisper into my ear. Arms wrapped around me and rocked me back and forth. I turned around quickly and hugged whoever it was tightly. Burying my head in their chest.

I drank in their sweet smell and looked up at them. "It's going to be okay Jesse..." The person hummed, Lukas. I hugged him even tighter as I shook violently. My breathing speeding up even more.

Lukas ran his fingers through my hair, whispering inaudible things in my ear. I swallowed quietly before mumbling, "P-please....n-never...lea...ve m-me..." I heard a small laugh, "I will never leave you baby."

Jack was just standing there awkwardly, unsure of what to do. Olivia and Axel had somehow slipped away and were out of sight.

I looked past Lukas to Petra, who was looking back at us. I felt guilty, like I was going to fail everyone. It hurt, nothing hurt worse. Not even death at this point. I gripped onto Lukas, as if I was going to just fall out of his grasp.

I felt light headed as I choked out a sentence, "I....d-don..t wan...t.....an-ny....one....to.....go....."

Silence.

Petra was gone.

I looked at Lukas then at the ground. "It's......a-all my....fault....." I took a deep breath before continuing. "I promised....her that I would never....leave her...."

The world just seemed to stop after that, I felt light. As if I could fly. Like I had elytra wings on again. As if everything was irrelevant. I still felt the warmth of Lukas holding me, it was all I ever wanted anymore, all I ever needed.

I had failed Petra, I know that I had. I had lied. It hurt to realize that. I took a deep breath, before opening my eyes to the world once more.

Everyone was surrounding me and Lukas. Sounding panicked and worried. I just sat up and yawned tiredly.

"hm...?" Was the only thing I could get out of my mouth. "Thank god you just passed out-" Lukas held me close.

"I can't die you idiot." I stuck my tounge out at him.

"It seems like it huh?" Lukas laughed, helping me up to my feet.

"Where has Petra gone?" I asked, "Will she be okay?" Lukas just smiled. "She will be perfectly fine." He walked over and planted a kiss on my lips.

"If you say so." I sigh, walking farther into beacon town, hand and hand with Lukas.
