Chapter Five- Show us the Light, Rudolph!

By sun down, Rudolph, Maevis and Slyly found a cave.

"Well, this looks like a cozy little spot, come on Red and Maevy." Slyly said and walked into the cave.

The three walked inside and looked around. "I don't think we should have walked in." Maevis said as she saw a rug and chairs and a table with a lamp on it. "Slyly, I think someone already lives here." Rudolph said and a loud growl was heard.

They all looked behind and saw a big white polar bear that looked mad

They all looked behind and saw a big white polar bear that looked mad.

"Just let me do the talking, Red and Maevy." Slyly whispered to the two of them and Maevis held onto Rudolph.

"Pardon me, chosen friend. We are part of the bureau of cave safety." Slyly said, pulling out a few papers and then hiding them quickly before the bear read them. "Huh?" The bear was confused.

"Now I'm sure you should be aware that the recent shifts in the polar ice have made some caves unsafe for habitation." Slyly continued.

"Huh?" The bear was still confused about what Slyly was saying.

"Now, please. Step aside while we inspect the premises." Slyly said and whispered to the two of us. "Now do as I do." Slyly said.

The two of them walked around and shook their heads at non-existent faults of the cave and Maevis looked at the bear and nervously laughed. "This is a bad idea." Maevis said under her breath and Slyly whistles. "Uh oh." Slyly said and puts his hand on his chin. And Rudolph does the same.

"This cave could collapse any minute! You got to evacuate immediately!" Slyly said and the bear gasps in horror. Slyly hands the bear a stick with a bag tied to the end and then leads the bear out.

"No need to thank us. Just doing our job. Bye bye now. Try to get to work. So long!" Slyly said and pushed the bear out and waved goodbye. The bear walked away and Slyly walked back in.

"This is a bad idea, Rudolph we just took that poor bear's home." Maevis said to Rudolph as she held onto his front leg.

Slyly laughs and sits on a chair. "That wasn't very nice Slyly." Rudolph said to Slyly as Slyly sat comfortably on a cushioned chair.

"Yeah, something tells me something bad is going to happen any second now..." Maevis said as she looked at Slyly and Rudolph.

"Look Maevis, Rudolph. It was either him or us. That is the Lore of Survival." Slyly said as he leaned back from the chair and closed his eyes.

Then the growl of the bear came back and they looked to see the same bear from before.

Slyly yelped and looked at the bear. "You tricked me!" The bear yelled.

"Retreat! Retreat!" Slyly screamed and ran out the cave as fast as he could. The bear growled at the two of them and they nervously stood there. "We are sorry we tried to trick you mister polar bear." Maevis said and Rudolph continued. "We are cold and hungry with no where to go." Rudolph said and the polar bear looked sad.
