As the months filed down to being weeks. It was becoming more prominent to see trainers crowd around in the Wild Area to compete in the Gym Battles against the strongest 8 Gym Leaders in Galar!
I, for one, been taking this opportunity to train and perfect my Pokémon's moves, strengths, and weaknesses. So, I stand, tiredly, on the grassy fields, training every one of my Pokemons.
"Inteleon! Use Liquidation on Centiskorch!" I commanded my long friended reptile. He nodded as he summoned a bit of water from the ground.
My Centiskorch took notice of where my Inteleon was aiming at and immediately dodged to the side. The bubbling pit of water shot up and completely missed. I huffed as I smiled impressively at my two pokemon.
"Good job Centiskorch! You're doing way much better at dodging. Especially from a water type move!" I went over to pat it's fiery head, lightly scratching it's top. Didn't want to get another burn scar..happened way too often.
"-As for you buddy, thank you so much for helping Centiskorch today..!" I looked upwards toward the, significantly, taller pokemon. He let out a shy chuckle as he nodded in response.
I turn around, facing the general direction of the sun, catching the beautiful sunlight that reached the mountains. Taking it all in, I looked over to see all my Pokémon playing amongst each other. Coriviknight and Inteleon chatting with each other, Eldegross shifting around in the grassy plains, and Boltund barking at a unfamiliar Shuckle. Wait..a shuckle..?
Confused with the sudden commotion, I run over to where Boltund and Shuckle were at. Just as I was about to pull Boltund back, my head crashed into something! Bouncing backwards on my butt, I winced at the sharp pain.
"Oi mate, keep your Boltund away from my Shuckle!" A heavy voice shouted in my direction. Sounded a bit hurt as well, I peak my eyes open.
A semi chubby man, with noticeable yellow dyed tips as his original blueish hair hid underneath it. Not to mention, his stylish and matching glasses fell nicely on his stubby nose. Remembering where I was at, I shook myself free from my thoughts.
'I shouldn't be spending my time looking at this man's features!'
"Hey! I didn't know your Shuckle was here in the first place! If I had, I would've controlled my Boltund then.." Picking myself up, I pushed my frightened Boltund back a bit.
"If anything, it was probably just playing with it.." Bewildered by this man's attitude, I defended my Boltund.
Watching as the man picked himself up as well, in which, he was extremely much taller than me. He was about the size of a Charizard. Both intimidating and attractive. I watch as he readjusts his shades.
"Regardless, control your Boltund." He announces coldly. Not long after, he picks up his small Shuckle and walks away.
Scoffing at his words, I turn my heel as I snapped for Boltund's attention.
"Don't pay attention to that man. He's just another entitled trainer..You we're just playing with the Shuckle, right sweetie..~?" I playfully rub my hands on Boltund's fur, sending small shock waves up my fingers.
Giggling happily, I ignored the man's words. Though, I will admit, maybe we just got off on the wrong foot..

[ Several weeks later... ]

It's been weeks since I last visited the Wild Area. I've been taking time off from training my Pokemon. Not that they needed it daily, I was quite happy with the progress we were making. In celebration of that, I decided to let my Pokémon have a few weeks off. To relax. To do their own activities. To talk with each other..whatever they wanted!
I will admit, I needed a break as well! Not only having to manage 6 Pokémons at a time, but having to manage myself! Wanting to train but being completely exhausted doesn't really go hand in hand.
But now! We've reached the open field of trees and grass, eyeing all the wandering Pokemon that habited the area. Pulling all my Pokeballs out, I launch them all upwards. With a quick easy toss, they were all out of their cages.
"Okay! I know you all just had a break but that doesn't mean—!"
Just in perfect timing, a small red shell came rolling by us. Popping out of that shell was a yellow cylinder shaped head. Squinting towards the familiar creature, an another Pokémon came dashing towards us! A Seismitoad! A fairly large one at that!
Riling up all my Pokémon, we sprinted out of it's way as it chased after the red shelled Pokémon.
"Shuckle! Wait u—!" Alerted by a faint scream, I was suddenly pushed back on the floor.
My Pokémon's immediately took their stance as the said figure fell right in front of me. Groaning in annoyance, I rub my eyes from the dust.
"W-Wait...it's you again! What's up with you and crashing into people..?!" Completely fed up with seeing this familiar fellow, I stood up immediately.
"What's up with you being in my business..?" He cursed silently, seemingly irritated by my appearance as well.
As the air slowly went dull, a frightened yet shaking Shuckle comes whimpering back. This time, with no Seismitoad tagging behind..
"Oh sorry bud! Here, we'll head into a Poke Center! For right now..go get some rest.." He scoops up his weeping Pokémon as he gently taps it with a Ultra ball.
Observing as the scene played, my gut screamed of guilt. Regardless of his shitty manners, he seems to care deeply for his Shuckle..Sighing deeply, I decided to break the tension.
"Look..obviously we just had a..rough start. Anyways- I'll keep an eye on my Pokémon and you..you watch where you're going." I say in a joking tone, at least from my perspective.
He eyes the Pokeball in his hands before clasping it to his shorts. He sneers as he accepts my apology.
"Good then! How about this..? Ahem..My name is [Y/N]!" I extended my arm out to reach him.
I follow his darting blue eyes. They switch between my hand and my friendly expression. Insisting on a handshake, I persistently thrust it forward. He sighs but reluctantly takes the gesture.
"The names Gordie.." He firmly grasps my hand and shook it tightly. Surprisingly though, his were soft and plump. Like squishing a marshmallow between your fingers.
His eyes shift downward toward me as he gives me a curious glance. Nervously, I let go of his hand as he follows the same action. I mutter out a quiet, 'Something wrong...?', due to the intense glare he's shooting me with.
"You're quite odd..you know?" He responds in a cool tone. It somehow shocks me that much that small shivers crawl up my spine.
I try to control myself as I pretended as if I was stretching. I sheepishly smile as I exclaim proudly, 'I'll take that as a compliment!'
As the conversation seem to die down, he suddenly moves. Away from me. Offended, the least he could do was 'Hey, got to go now!'!
"Hey! Where you going?!" I looked towards my Pokémon and maneuvered my head to point towards the direction I'm walking in. They understood it clearly and rushed to my side.
"Going to the Poke Center, that's what.." He stuffs his hands in his pocket as he sways back and forth.
The scenery was peaceful, almost serene yet the area surrounding him was gloomy and intense. It reminded me of Coffings' withering stench that followed it.
"Well...what were you doing before you know..?" Trying to bring up conversation, even my Pokemon knew this was awkward.
He took a moment to process my question as a more, 'fashionable' and 'blunt' side to him approached me.
"Training with my one and only Shuckle, of course!" He seemed to be pretty proud of his Shuckle. I smiled fondly at his comment.
"That Seismitoad was giving your Shuckle a run for it's money though...~" I snickered amusingly. Gordie gasps as he shifts his head towards me as we walk.
"Hey, don't fuckle with Shuckle!" In an almost too proud tone, I couldn't hold back my tearful laugh.
We stopped by some Berry trees as I took a moment to laugh my ass off. Not before long, his straight narrow mouth curved upwards in a grin.
Somehow, the tension seemed to dissipate in a matters of minutes. As we walked our way back to the city, Hammerlocke, we slowly grew onto each other. Hell, he even let out some his Pokémon to converse with mine. They got along perfectly fine as well! From being complete strangers to acquaintances who happen to feel like best buds already!
"You know..you're not that bad..?" He smirks handsomely, flashing a bit of his sparkling eyes.
I blush a bit of his sudden compliment but quickly composed myself.
"Right back at you, I thought you were some arrogant asshole!" Hey, I had to be honest. He inhaled deeply, quite dramatic as well.
"Then..you won't like me in a battle..!" He brings up, confidently.
Surprised by that, I face him directly in the eye with a cheeky smile.
"Oh ho oh..~ Is that a challenge?" I combatted his mischievous smile as I wanted to see more what this man had to offer. He chuckles at my closeness yet walks away calmly.
As we were getting closer to the entrance of Hammerlocke, the familiar obsidian like statue stood in front of us.
"Perhaps but next time-!" Unable to let him finish his sentence, I shouted a quick, 'Coward!' in his direction.
Foreseeing as this was about to be our goodbyes, I swallow the pit in my stomach that I won't be able to see him again. Galar was fairly huge and millions of people lived in this lively region. Who knows when I'll be able to see him again?
"I mean..in my gym arena. Circhester Gym Battle.." As if he won an argument, he shoots me a shit eating smile.
Taking in what I just heard, with the words that echoed in my head..Circhester. It wasn't that I haven't been there before it was just...I've been nonchalantly talking to some Gym Leader?!
Frozen in place, he took that as his exit. Bringing his pointer and middle finger together, he pressed those two up to his temple before sending it my way.
"See you then. Maybe..maybe we can get to know each other there..~" Waving me a silent goodbye, I stood there trembling on my feet.
I guess I would have no choice but to see him again. Though..I'm not complaining..
