chapter three

His eyes were focused on the ceiling above him, arms folded behind his head. Multiple thoughts were running through his mind due to last night and Corbyn was extremely confused.

Nova was obviously aware of how Corbyn despised her boyfriend because they spoke about him and he outed his feelings. She herself was also aware of how odd Noah was acting, leaving her to be the one heartbroken and him being fine was something she never really realized.

She had told Corbyn that she was going to have a talk with her boyfriend about it this morning, hence to why she left early and he was now all by himself. Corbyn offered her a ride, but the douchebag himself was willing to pick her up this morning. How ironic after he knew she stayed the night at Corbyn's place.

Corbyn rolled his eyes at the thought and sat up straight, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes before checking his phone. A few messages filled his lock screen and he noticed Nova had called him an hour ago.

He furrowed his eyebrows and decided to call her back as he made his way downstairs after putting on some basketball shorts. The phone rang a few times, but it went to voicemail right after. He decided to shoot her a text to ask her if she was okay.

Corbyn met up with Daniel and Jessie, who were sitting outside on the lawn chairs. He was fully aware Daniel was trying to make a move on her, and it was nice to see the two were getting along so well and heading in the right direction.

"Hey Corbs!" Jessie smiled, pulling her legs to her chest so he was able to take a seat on her chair too.

He smiled shortly, "Have you heard from Vie today? She called me but when I called her back she didn't answer."

"She's on her w- she just came trough the front door," Jessie chuckled, nodding her head into the direction where Nova would walk trough the back door in about a few seconds.

And so she did, her body coming into view after she opened the back door and made her way over to the three friends. She had a neutral look on her face, causing Corbyn to furrow his eyebrows because he didn't know if that was a good thing or not.

He was curious to hear what happened this morning when she went over to Noah's, but knew that asking about it might hit a wrong nerve. Nova greeted Jessie with a hug after her friend stood up from the chair, pulling Daniel up with her. It was clear to see Jessie wanted Corbyn and Nova to talk about what happened a few hours prior and would hear about it later.

Nova smiled at the pair before waving them goodbye as they walked back inside, a deep sigh coming from her just seconds after the back door closed and they were left with each other.

Corbyn looked up at her from where he was still sitting on the chair, opening his arms for her to crawl into so he was able to greet her properly. With a kiss on the head, Nova immediately felt at ease and decided she was just going to throw it all out.

"He doesn't want us to see each other anymore," She told him quietly, tightly closing her eyes at how incredibly claiming that might've sounded. "He just straight up told me I'm a different person when you're around."

Corbyn found himself frowning at her statement, a scoff leaving his mouth, "Why does this fucker think he has the right to tell you who you can and can't hang out with?" He asked her, "And yeah you're a different person when I'm around because you feel at ease and I don't drop you like it's nothing. No offense to you."

She shook her head, "Non taken because that's literally what I told him too," She chuckled lightly, nuzzling her head into the crook of his neck. "I also told him I want some space to clear my mind and see if that works for me. He wasn't too happy with that, but telling him I'm worth equally as much as him shut him up."

"Equally as much as him?" Corbyn asked her as his thumb brushed her shoulder, "Baby, you're worth more than that, trust me. Way more."

It hurt Corbyn when she thought she wasn't worth that much because of how her dickhead boyfriend was treating her, and that only made him hate Noah even more. The kid was dragging her down. With that being said, Corbyn was glad she came to realize that she needed to put herself first in this situation.

"I blocked his number," She chuckled, fiddling with the strings on the rip of her black jeans, "He knows I did though."

Corbyn snorted at this, a laugh escaping his mouth, "What why?"

"So I'm able to see if I miss him or not," She told him casually, "And if I don't block him, he's going to send me a shit ton of texts to tell me he misses me and loves me oh so much. That doesn't really work with me wanting some space to clear my head."

He nodded and brushed some hair behind her shoulder, "I'm happy you're doing what's best for you," Corbyn smiled, placing a kiss on the top of her head. "But uh- does that mean you also want me to give you some space? I mean- I guess that's fair because I'm involved in this whole thing too right?"

Nova looked up, a frown prominent on her face. She shook her head immediately, "No, you're not the problem here, he is. Don't be so silly, Corbs."

Corbyn felt as if a weight fell from his shoulders when she said that. He felt quite guilty for coming between them, but then again, he didn't tell her to choose. Maybe he should have when he found out what kind of person Noah was, but at that time she seemed happy.

All Corbyn wanted was for her to be genuinely happy, and he just hoped that some day, he was going to be the person to make her feel that way.
