chapter eleven

Nova sighed softly as she stopped from where she was walking next to Corbyn, the pair deciding to walk around downtown Los Angeles to head out for some drinks. Corbyn furrowed his eyebrows, unaware of what the girl was planning to do - but when she unstrapped her heels and took them off with a content sigh following, he chuckled. "Sore feet, huh?"

The brunette chuckled as she caught up with him, heels clutched together in one and while her free one found Corbyn's to hold and tangle their fingers together automatically, "Yeah, they've been hurting me all night," She answered, "But making an even better impression on the guy that already likes me makes it slightly worth it."

It caused Corbyn to let out a laugh, knowing that his confession was going to be something she'd tease him about every time she had the chance. He was fine with it, because it meant she was content and happy with what he told her before they decided to leave the restaurant and walk around town.

"If it makes you feel better," Nova started, stopping in her tracks which caused Corbyn to stop moving as well, "I really really like you too, if you haven't noticed before," She chuckled, her voice calm and collective, but the blush on her cheeks made it clear she was quite nervous to tell him that.

Corbyn smiled down at her, "That actually does make me feel much better," He told her sincerely, hands reaching upwards to cup her heated cheeks, "Have I told you how gorgeous you look tonight?"

It caused Nova to smile and nod, "About thirteen times already, yeah," She told him, relaxing in his grip as she looked at him.

"I'm sorry," He laughed, shaking his head, "I'm just- still quite nervous-"

"Corbs," She broke out a laugh, "I'm just teasing you, it's okay. Just wanted you to know I'm glad you appreciate me."

He nodded almost immediately after her statement, telling her he really appreciated her. His head dipped down quickly to plant a few kisses onto her lips, causing them both to smile while their lips brushed. Nova felt his fingertips brush some hair out of her face, the strands falling from her up do to frame her beautiful face. "I will always appreciate you."

Just an hour later, the pair found themselves in a local bar down the streets, sitting at a table with a few of their best friends. Nova was sat next to Jessie, who was obviously excited to hear about the date her best friend had with Corbyn.

"I still can't believe you didn't tell me you knew how much he liked me," Nova chuckled as she placed down her tall glass of white wine, "Was it that obvious?"

Jessie playfully rolled her eyes, "Yes it was," She grinned, "I also can't believe you didn't tell me you two kissed before! I'm glad you did now though, you two staying upstairs while you were cleaning his wounds all makes sense right now."

Nova hid her face in her heads because of the embarrassment, but she was glad she told Jessie right after she and the rest of their group came over to have a few drinks at the bar. Jessie obviously knew something happened between the two of them. If she mentioned Corbyn's name around Nova, her cheeks would get tinted and a smile would appear without her even noticing.

She didn't mind Nova didn't tell her yet, knowing that her best friend was confused about everything happening after the fight with Noah. Her feelings were all over the place, and knowing Nova, Jessie was aware that she was scared to admit she actually felt the same for Corbyn.

Same goes for Ashley, who was sitting on the other side of Nova. The blonde was sensing something happening between her brother and one of her best friends, and she was living for it. Corbyn was always obvious about his feelings for the brunette and Ashley had been there from the start, to see them develop into the lovers they were at this exact point.

"It was so- I don't even know," Nova started, smiling softly as she swirled her wine around in the tall glass, "We were so caught up in the moment and I just asked him to kiss me without thinking twice."

"And how did you feel afterwards?" Ashley asked her in a quieter voice, noticing how the voices belonging to the boys had died down slightly, probably curious to know what the three girls were talking about.

Nova also noticed, raising an eyebrow at the five boys as a playful sign to tell the curious five not to eavesdrop on them. It caused Jessie to stand up from her seat, signaling Daniel over so the two of them were able to get the group some more drinks.

The other boys got involved into another conversation about a new pair of shoes Jack had his eye on, and it caused both Ashley and Nova to silently thank Jack for taking the attention off the girls' conversation.

"Honestly?" Nova began, "I've never felt like that before, it's insane- the way he made me feel by just looking at me. I'm not the type to get sappy but this kid makes my knees go weak."

"Who does?" A voice spoke up behind them, scaring the girls slightly as they were so caught up in their conversation. Ashley playfully rolled her eyes before turning her head to look at her older brother, "Do you always have to interfere when I'm talking to my girl?"

Corbyn flipped her off before wrapping an arm around Nova's shoulders, planting a kiss onto the top of her head. "Your girl? I think you mean my girl."

"Took you long enough to tell her how you felt, weirdo," Ashley chuckled, a smile on her face as she watched the two of them in front of her. "And I can't recall you two getting official yet, so therefore, Nova's still my girl."

Nova just shook her head and smiled at their banter, letting her hands wrap around Corbyn's arm. Ashley placed a kiss onto Nova's cheek with a playful wink before heading to the bar to help Daniel and Jessie with the drinks.

"You enjoying tonight?" Corbyn asked her once they were left alone, scooting over a chair so he was able to sit next to her.

Nova smiled at him and nodded her head, placing a hand over his that had made its way onto her knee. "I really did, thank you so much for everything."

Corbyn smiled, "Everything for my girl, huh?"
