Couple: Callum Ilott and Marcus Armstrong
Prompt: "I don't want to dance if I'm not dancing with you"
For fraugoretzka ❤
"You know, Mick's been staring at you for the past 10 minutes. You should go dance with him." I placed my hand on Callum's back and gently shoved him in Mick's direction.
"Uhh... no thanks." Callum stepped back towards me and wrinkled his nose.
"What? Why not?" Before he could even open his mouth to reply, I continued. "Never mind. I'm going to get a drink. Go to Mick. I'll see you later." I winked at him and walked away.
We'd been at this club for nearly an hour already and he had yet to leave my side. All the older FDA drivers had decided to go out partying since we were all together for the first time in a few months. And naturally, I saw this as the perfect opportunity to play matchmaker. Mick had been shooting looks at Callum for the past couple months and it had been the big talk around the factory. It was time something actually happened between the pair.
Speaking of which, now with a drink in my hand, I turned around, searching for my best friend. With Mick? Nope, of course not. Why would he have listened to my suggestion? So where was he then? I put my drink down and strolled over to Giuliano.
"Have you seen Callum?"
"Last I saw he went outside," he said.
Crap. "Ok, thank you." He nodded to me as I passed. Callum only ever went outside when he was upset. And I had a sinking feeling I was responsible.
xxxx
"Hey," I called to Callum softly, finally having found him after a full 10 minutes searching. He was sitting against a wall, in the alley behind the club.
"Hi," he muttered.
"What's up? Why are you out here?" I sunk down next to him as he shrugged.
"You left."
"Yeah. So you could go dance with Mick." I frowned.
"Why I would to dance with Mick?"
"Because he's been flirting with you for months? Why wouldn't you want to dance with Mick?"
"Because I just don't, alright?"
"But why not? Tell me the truth."
"Because I don't want to dance if I'm not dancing with you," Callum mumbled.
"Me? Why me? What about Mick?" Callum stood up abruptly.
"Oh my god! Will you shut up about Mick? I don't care about how Mick feels about me! I only care about how you feel about me! Because I have feelings for you, Marcus, not for Mick!"
"Wh-What?"
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have yelled." Callum paced back and forth whilst I sat frozen on the ground.
"You have feelings for me?"
"Yeah, I do. I didn't want to tell you this way but here we are." He knelt down in front of me and grasped my hands in his. " I do have feelings for you Marcus Armstrong. Strong ones. But if you don't want me to, I will never speak of this again. I promise."
"Do you know why I kept trying to set you up with Mick?" Callum's face seemed to deflate at the mention of his rival again.
"Why?"
"Because knowing you were single hurt. It meant you were just out of reach. It meant I wasn't good enough for you to want to be with me. But if you were dating someone... it would mean that maybe it wasn't my fault. Maybe it would have meant that you just loved Mick more. Maybe it would have meant that there wasn't something wrong with me..." Callum let go of one of my hands to reach up and wipe away the tear that was trickling down my cheek.
"Marcus, look at me." He placed two fingers under my chin and raised it. "There is nothing wrong with you. I just didn't want to lose you. And then you started trying to shove me into a relationship with Mick, so I figured you didn't feel the same. But I understand why you did that now. And I need you to know... to know that you're perfect to me. Completely and totally perfect." Callum gently stroked my cheek, keeping his eyes locked onto mine the whole time. The tension had long since dropped out of his body and his eyes had softened. They had returned to their usual soft blue rather than the cobalt flames they always morphed into when Callum was mad.
"Marcus?"
"I love you," I blurted out. The fingers on my cheek froze for a split second before finally resuming their movements, this time tracing down towards my lips and then over them.
"I love you too." Even though it was only a faint whisper in the night, tingles filled my body. They only increased when Callum leant forward, leaving just a mere centimetre between our lips. "Can I kiss you?" When he spoke again, his lips brushed over mine. My mind couldn't even think straight, let alone make my lips form the right words. Instead, I closed the small gap between us. His lips were softer than I ever could have imagined and when he deepened the kiss, I could taste the vodka we'd both been drinking earlier. It was perfect. He was perfect.
"Oh, there you two are. We thought you'd left without telling us."
"Nope, still here. We'll be in in a sec." Annoyance clearly seeped into Callum's tone as he pulled away from me and replied to an oblivious Robert.
"Ok. See you soon!" Rob waved and went back inside. Callum groaned and lent his head against my shoulder.
"Idiot. Interrupted the best moment of my life." Shaking his head, he stood up and held out a hand for me. "Come on, we'd better get back in there before he comes out again."
He moved to walk away but I tugged on his hand, pulling him back to me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pecked his lips.
"I love you." This time, Callum said those magic words first.
"I love you too." Callum pressed his lips to mine briefly before spinning out of my arms.
"Now, what do you say? Should I still go find Mick to dance with?" A smirk graced his lips.
"Do that and you can wake up alone, thank you very much."
"Whatever you say, love. After all, I'm yours."
