(Callum POV)

I was bored. The break between seasons always drove me crazy but knowing that I wasn't even going to be racing next season made it even worse. And we were only 2 days in. I had been lying on my bed contemplating life for the past hour straight. So I did the only logical thing.

"Marcus!"

"What?"

"Where are you?"

"Bedroom!" I followed Marcus' calls and found him stretched out on his bed.

"Hi." I threw myself down next to him and smiled.

"Hello," He smirked at me.

"Whatcha doing?" Instead of answering my question, he tilted his phone towards me. He had a dating app open and was clearly flicking through all the options. Ew. Imagine trying to find someone to date online. I always believed that it was much better to be friends first. That way you could be sure that you got along well with them. And I knew that there were plenty of people in real life who would date Marcus. There was Christian for starters, who could hardly ever keep his hands off him. Then that one Art mechanic, Larissa or something. She was clearly head over heels for Marcus. And Robert. I'm sure Robert would date him if he got the chance. Although Robert did have some weird friends with benefits thing going on with Mick so maybe not... But really, who wouldn't date Marcus? With his oh-so-soft hair that was practically begging to be touched and his jokes that could make anyone feel better. He was a great cuddler, although maybe not quite so good in the kitchen. He was simply perfect. But I was his best friend. And if that meant helping him online date, then so it be.

"Looks fun! Can I help?" I lied.

"Sure. I'm not really being too serious about it. I'm just bored. And I'm guessing you are too if you're in here annoying me."

"Then you guessed correctly. Show me the phone." I winked at Marcus. He passed me the phone and I wriggled closer to him, pressing our shoulders against each other so we could both see. We flicked through the first few people, but no one seemed quite right for Marcus. Everyone was either attractive with a personality like sandpaper or just didn't catch Marcus' eye.

"Have you ever actually swiped yes to someone on here?" I questioned.

"Once." Marcus put his phone down and rolled onto his side so that he was facing me. "And only once. He was nice. Tall, skinny, light brown hair, pretty blue eyes, sarcastic, fun. Kinda just like you, now that I think about it. He was great but uh, he decided I wasn't for him."

"That's sad."

"Yeah," Marcus whispered. I pulled him into my arms and held him tight to my chest as a comfortable silence filled the room.

"Marcus?" Marcus lifted his head and looked me in the eyes. "Do you believe in soulmates?"

"Sort of. I believe there's a scale for each person. On one end is the person you would be least suited for. On the other end, is the person you're most suited for; your soulmate. I believe everyone in the world fits somewhere on that scale. Does that make sense?"

"Yeah. I like that. A lot, actually. Do you think you've met the perfect person then?"

"I think the guy I mentioned before was closer to the soulmate side than anyone I've ever met before. But otherwise, no. Or at least I haven't realised it yet." Marcus shrugged and moved away from me. All I wanted was to pull him back to me, to feel his warmth against me again. "Come on. Let's go watch a movie. I'm thinking Nerve. Or maybe The Karate Kid..." I shook my head at my best friend's antics and followed him out of the room with only one thought playing in my head: Maybe I wanted to be Marcus' perfect person.
