(Y/N) sat next to Daniel at the kitchen counter, as they ate the breakfast he prepared for them. The homemade vanilla syrup was incredible, and when combined with the french toast, it was one of the best breakfasts she had in a long time."Dan, this is amazing," (Y/N) said, in between bites. "You're gonna have to sleep over more often."
He laughed. "Thanks," he said. "That sounds great."
She smiled. She couldn't believe she'd only known him for a little over a month. They just clicked so well; she felt like she'd known him for years.
"So, uh, I was wondering..." Daniel started, and she perked up a little, curious about what he was gonna say. "We've been hanging out for a while, and I... like you a lot. So, I was wondering if, maybe, you wanted to... make things official...?"
(Y/N) couldn't keep the smile off her face. "Are you asking to be my boyfriend?"
Daniel nodded. "Yeah," he smiled shyly.
She pretended to think about it for a moment, placing a hand on her chin. "Hmm... I'll have to think about that." she said, but her (E/C) eyes held amusement. "Yes, Daniel, I'd love to be your girlfriend."
He smiled widely. "Awesome!"
"Now let me finish my breakfast," (Y/N) said, in a jokingly annoyed manner.
Daniel laughed. "I think you like my cooking more than me," he teased.
"Duh!"
He put a hand over his chest in mock-offense. "You're so mean to me!"
(Y/) giggled. "Yeah," she took another bite from her plate. "But I seem to remember you being pretty mean to me, too."
"What?!" Daniel exclaimed. "When have I ever been mean to you?"
"On our first date you called me basic," (Y/N) retorted. "And you've been doing it ever since!"
"...That's different."
"In what way?"
"Because you are basic," Daniel grinned.
(Y/N) smacked his shoulder playfully. "I am not basic for liking spaghetti!" she said. "Spaghetti is delicious! She's a bad bitch! She's on another level! You cannot compete with her! She'll drain your bank account and steal your girlfriend!"
"Is she ranting about spaghetti again?" She heard someone say, and when she turned, she saw Eliza standing in the doorway of the kitchen, a grin on her face.
"Yeah," Daniel chuckled. "And all because I called her basic."
"I am not basic!" (Y/N) protested.
"You kinda are," Eliza said.
"I am not! If anything, you guys are basic for not appreciating spaghetti like the goddess she is!"
Daniel turned to Eliza. "Is she always like this in the morning...?"
"Yes."
"What did I do to deserve all this bullying?" (Y/N) complained.
Daniel smiled. "If I give you the rest of my french toast, will you forgive me?" He asked.
"Yes!" She bounced slightly in her seat, and grinned, as he handed her his plate. There wasn't very much left on it, but there was enough to satisfy her.
"Well, I gotta head to work now," Daniel said.
(Y/N) frowned slightly. She had forgotten that it was a work day. She wanted to spend the day with him again. But she knew she could always hang out with him later. She smiled, and leaned in to kiss his cheek. "Bye, babe," she said, as she pulled away. "Have a good day at work."
Daniel smiled widely. "Thanks," he said, getting up. "You, too."
As he left, (Y/N) finished up her breakfast. She washed her plate, before she settled on the couch, and began working on her story. The words weren't coming easy, but she was making a little bit of progress. Eliza sat beside her, and turned on the news, while (Y/N) continued working.
"And in other news, the death of Eve Lancaster is still being investigated. The police say she was found dead in a local bar, and although it was initally believed to be a suicide, they now believe she may have been murdered. We will report further as updates come in. And now for the weather."
"That's awful..." (Y/N) mumbled.
Eliza nodded. "Yeah, I can't imagine what her family's going through right now."
"Yeah..."
It was hard to focus on writing after that. Her mind just kept going back to that girl. To make matters worse, this was far from a rare occurrence. There had been more and more murders in this area lately. Just the other day, a man was found dead a couple blocks down from where she lived. It was really scary.
At some point, she took a break from writing, and ate some lunch. She felt her phone buzz in her pocket, and when she pulled it out, she saw a text from Daniel.

(Y/N) froze. 'Make it look like a suicide...?' she silently repeated. She instantly remembered the news story from earlier. The murder of that girl in the bar looked like a suicide. Paranoia made her heart feel tight in her chest, and for a moment, her breathing stopped. But that was ridiculous. Daniel probably just saw the news story. Or maybe it was just something he thought of off the top of his head. There was nothing inherently suspicious about it.

She dismissed her feelings of mistrust. Daniel was a great guy. He would never do something like that, unless it was for defense. With that in mind, she finished up her soup, and went back to work on her story.
