"Odin's Beard, Merlins Saggy Balls, Holy Batman, Sevens Hells and by the damn Angel."  Isobel swore under her breath after she accidentally hit her thumb with the hammer.

It would heal in not time, but shattering the bones in your own thumb was still painful.

"Maman, you really aught you give up on fanfiction and get a life."

I just shattered the bones in my thumb and you're bringing this up now? Her glared seemed to say.

"I'd throw you all under a bus to get to Batman and don't you forget it. Insulant child." She hissed at her son who was snickering at her expense.

A sly smirk krept up on her face. "Perhaps you are right. I think it's time to take up dating."

Edwin paled considerably and choked on his glass of water. The thought of his sweet innocent Maman subjected to the shitpool of modern dating made him gag.

"Or I could stick to fandoms." Edwin just nodded and his mother grinned in victory.

"You do that, Maman." He checked his phone to see that he had received a text message from his sister, Lucille.

"Lucille is going to be a little late for family game night. She ran into Niklaus and says she lost track of time, but she's already on her way and called the Pizzeria."

He could see his mother tense a bit before forcing herself to relax.

"What's the big deal Maman? Niklaus has been in love with Lucille since she became of age. Why won't you let them date?"

"Because she'd gain a target on her back and he'd be the one walking away alive. It's just how it is. I'm just too selfish to give either of you up to death. I love you too much." She walked over and caressed her son's cheek.

"You two are my very life blood. Without you, your Maman would be nothing."

"You'd still be a daughter of Charlemagne."

She smiled sadly. "I wish that you two had the chance to have your own children before you were subjected to this. Maybe then you would have understood my love for you. There is nothing I wouldn't do for you."

"Give up Batman?"

She snorted. "Now you're just being crazy."

He smirked down at his petite mother.

"I hear Lucille coming up with Klaus."

Isobel groaned in frustration. "That old man doesn't know when to give up."

"I bet he's just being a gentleman." He waggled his brows at his mother.

"If he's nothing less I'll have no choice but to drag him into the seven hells." She muttered and caused Edwin to laugh heartily.
