A few weeks had passed since Leigh had that nightmare. Since then, the judge had decided that there would be a trial period of eight weeks for Jordan to take care of Chloe-Marie to test whether or not he was fit to be a parent, so that part of her dream was true. The trial period was currently in the midst of it's third week. The only thing that happened thus far in those excruciatingly long three weeks was Leigh worrying every day about her daughter.
When Chloe first went to Jordan's they Facetimed every morning because the poor child, bless her, would forget where she was when they woke up in the morning. But as she got more and more comfortable with him, the calls gradually stopped. Which seemed fair as this was supposed to be his chance to prove himself and he didn't need her interfering all the time. But that did not stop her from worrying.
Was she eating enough? Did she have a bath at least once every day? Was she sleeping okay? Was she happy? Did she miss her mother?
Andre did his best to calm her down but he would be lying if he said didn't miss the sweet girl as well. Kyro and Harvey certainly seemed to miss their playmate.
Eventually, Leigh found enough strength to wholeheartedly throw herself into her work. She, along with Jade, starting going to more and more writing sessions for the new album. In a single session they wrote ten songs. Of those those ten they filed seven of them in the "To Be Used" folder and scrapped two of the three. The remaining one they started composing the music for.
"Can we take a break and get some food and wine in here? My brain is about to be fried." Jade groaned as she stood up. They were focused and sitting for so long her body grew stiff. Every single bone in her body popped as she stretched her limbs. "Ahh that's better."
"I think there's a bottle remaining from the last party. I'll go get it." Tayla Parx, another writer, said getting up.
"I'll order some takeout. I'm in the mood for some burgers. Anybody else?" Jade asked.
After everyone gave Jade their order, they got up to either get water or to use the bathroom. Only Leigh and Jade remained. Leigh was so distracted that she didn't even notice Jade snapping her fingers in front of her face.
"Ow!" Leigh yelled. She collected a book on the side of her face.
"Soz hun. You spaced out to another galaxy" Jade replied, shrugging as she tapped away at her phone.
"Sorry. I was just thinking about Chloe." Leigh sighed and lay her head on the back of the sofa on which she sat.
"Anything I can help with?"
"Unless you can work some magic and make him forget so I can keep my daughter for myself, then I don't think so. I just want this to be over already. Being away from her for 3 weeks was hard enough. Then I have to do it for 5 more weeks. Plus there's the possibility of this being a permanent thing until she's 18? I can hardly stand to imagine it."
"I know, babe. I'm sorry."
"I would love some of that wine, but unfortunately I'm driving. I'm a shit driver sober, no need to be driving under the influence." Leigh chuckled.
"Don't worry hun. I'll drink for you."
"Can always count on you." She said as a smile grew on her face.
"I'm gonna head to the loo before we continue." Leigh said.
"Okay."
...
The next morning was a rare alignment of the stars for both Leigh and Andre. They both had a day off so this meant they slept in.
When the sun got too bright to ignore, Leigh slowly fluttered her eyes open and rolled over to look at her boyfriend. She jumped when she saw that he was already awake and staring at her.
