Two months later

Christmas had come around once again. A time for laughter and cheer. A time for family and friends. It was an even happier time for Miss Leigh-Anne Pinnock. It was her first Christmas together with her daughter and she couldn't be more excited .

Tour had finished two weeks earlier so that also contributed to her happy mood. Touring with a baby so young is something she doesn't plan on doing at all ever again and she plans on making that crystal clear to their management the next time they meet.

Before they got home Leigh paid a cleaner's company to have her home clean for her arrival home. She hadn't the energy nor strength to do so herself. Also, she didn't have time to go shopping so she did it all online. She simply paid extra for next day shipping so it'd arrive in time for her to wrap and put under the Christmas tree she had yet to decorate.

When she arrived home, she shoved her suitcases in a corner, and plopped on her bed. Chloe-Marie lay comfortably on the bed beside her, stuffed puppy hanging from her mouth as usual. Leigh scooted to the middle of the bed and wrapped her arms around the child. She sighed in contentment then giggled. It had been too long since she had slept in the comfort of her own bed. Her eyes felt heavier than ever. Right before she closed her eyes she lazily barred the edge of the bed with pillows so if Chloe happened to roll over she won't fall off of the bed. As soon as her head touched the remaining pillow she was out like a light and Chloe not far behind her.

Three hours of blissful rest was not enough but to her utter annoyance Leigh was awoken by her phone vibrating on her wooden night stand. Mentally screaming curses, she picked up her phone and glanced at the caller ID. It was her sister Sairah. Still in a dreamy state she hung up and pulled her sleeping daughter closer in her arms. Seconds later the buzzing began again. She sucked her teeth and answered the call.

"Yes" She answered, harshly.

"Good afternoon to you too."

"I was sleeping. Something you need?" She yawned.

"I was just calling to say that our flight's been cancelled because the weather is getting really bad." This caught Leigh's attention, waking her up completely. She sat up wary of waking up the young child.

"Oh. What about the train?"

"Out of the question."

"Driving?"

"The traffic would be too much. We'd get there after Christmas."

"So you're not coming?"

"We'll see what we can do but I can't promise anything."

"Okay." Leigh said dejected.

"Hey don't sound too sad. We'll make it in time for Boxing Day."

"It won't be the same." She sighed.

"I know. I gotta go, hang in there and give Chloe a kiss for me. Love you, bye." Sarah hung up.

'Love you too sis.'

She placed the phone back on the night stand but not before putting it on silent. She slid quietly slid off the bed making complete sure not to disturb the sleeping baby. She padded across the room and curled up on her window seat. She leaned her head against the cold window and watched the snow fall. She looked at the fresh bed of powder that had just fallen, how it shimmered in the light, how soft and pure it looked. She tried not to think about how this may be her first Christmas away from her family, her first Christmas alone. The thought alone made her shiver. She tried to think of the silver lining in the situation.
