Despite her insanely popular name, Seoyeon was from being so.

And it wasn't because she didn't want to be popular, cause lord she really did, she just couldn't.

Ever since she was little, Seoyeon was a girl with little to say. She was obedient and never talked back, even though she wanted to.

Many believed the girl was mute, for she never spoke, just simple nods.

But this was not the case.

Seoyeon was diffident, she lacked confidence.

Every single bit of confidence that could have been there was stripped.

It wasn't from PTSD or anything, she has just always been like that.

She had seen a therapist, but could barely utter a word to them.

Hell, she can barely talk to her parents.

She hated, hated this trait. This curse, she had.

It affected her day-to-day life tremendously. She couldn't order her own food, ask questions, do partner activities, or do the one thing she wished she could.

Talk to Kim Sunwoo.

Kim Sunwoo was her 3 year crush, from the start of high school to now, the first year of college, she has liked him.

He had never noticed her, for she never spoke and always was forced to sit in the back, she roamed the shadows all through high school.

It's funny how she only had eyes for someone who hasn't even looked her in the eyes.

Except once, of course.

The day she had fallen.

Sunwoo was popular, the complete opposite of her. Cliche, but true.

He had an outgoing personality, a mouth that always had something to say, and was extremely handsome.

It was the second month of her 1st year, she remembers it so vividly. It was windy that day, and her long hair constantly fell in front of her face.

Her and her gym class were playing a friendly game of football scrimmage.

Seoyeon, who knew nothing about football—except the fact you kick it into the goal—was having trouble.

She tried her best to keep her eyes on the ball, as well as keeping her hair out of her face, and running.

She ran back and forth at the edge of the field, hoping and praying the ball didn't roll over to her.

Just her luck.

The ball rolled straight to her, unsure of what to do, she began to panic.

She could feel the stares of her teammates and opponents, she could hear the shouts of her teacher to "kick the ball".

But yet she couldn't move.

She could feel the panic attack coming, it wouldn't be the first time.

She began to close her eyes, heavy breaths left her mouth as her chested lifted and fell.

"Don't worry, I gotcha." A voice said to her softly.

She opened her eyes to see a unfamiliar boy, someone she had only seen from afar. He flashed a smile as he patted him her shoulder twice before taking the ball.

"Sunwoo pass!!"

She stared at him in awe.

Luckily, he was her teammate so she wasn't scolded by anyone, but that was the least of her worries that day.

All she could think about was that smile.

A smile she had never received before, it reached his eyes and he seemed genuine. He seemed like he knew exactly what was going on up in her head.

She felt comfort. She felt like he understood.

All from just that one smile, that one glance, that one second.

Ever since that day, Seoyeon has been hopelessly devoted to Sunwoo.

She never shared a look to anyone but him.

She was loyal to him, but you couldn't say the same about Sunwoo.

She watched him go in and out of relationships, some lasting months, others only lasting weeks. Only one that lasted a year.

Yet she didn't love him any less, though she wanted to be one of those girls, she knew she could never have the niche.

And she will forever wish for the evil curse to be lifted.
