For miles on end, Jay was going well over the speed limit, but both of us were in shock so we didn't care. We were speechless. Was this a coincidence that we happened to be at the same place at the same time? There's no way they had found me already. I hadn't stopped moving. Plus they were at the gas station first.

The gas tank was only half full and my passenger window was nonexistent. So, despite both of our fears, we'd have to temporarily stop our travels at one point soon to at least get more gas. Hopefully next time without a death scare.

"Well...that was intense and terrifying," Jay finally spoke up after a long while, having to speak loudly over the whistling of the wind.

Sighing, I glanced out the empty place where my window was no longer. "Welcome to my life." He had volunteered to be part of this, so I mean I get the shock but the thought of something like this happening should have at least crossed his mind briefly. "...I guess you kind of asked for this."

Shaking his head twice, he scoffed and kept his eyes trained on the road in front of him, glancing into the rearview mirror every minute or so. "Asked to be shot at? A big no. Volunteered to be a sidekick as psychos shot at you?" he hummed. "Maybe, I guess." Nonetheless, despite the stressful situation, his words made me smile.

"I guess you're officially recognized as a threat now." There's no way he wouldn't be. The mystery man had seen Jay and knows what truck we are in now. Switching vehicles might be a good idea. I'd never hijacked and stolen a car, but the thought was crossing my mind. There is a first time for everything I guess.

Jay was silent for a few minutes. "How do you even know they were after you and it wasn't just a coincidence with your situation?" he questioned me. " ...Also, what the heck even happened? I'm just pumping gas minding my own business when bam! Gunshots. It was like a freaking action movie.   "

Although I didn't necessarily want to go back and relive the experience to tell him every detail, I did. It was only fair that he knew exactly what he had gotten mixed up in. "Then he pulled the trigger." I chuckled, but there was no happiness expressed. "I thank the good Lord above there were no bullets in that gun. I would totally be dead right now."

He shook his head, a breath of disbelief leaving his lips. "Dang." We drove for a little longer. My eyes repeatedly glanced in the rearview mirror looking for a familiar SUV but no vehicle appeared to follow us. Being cautious never hurt anyone though. "You didn't mention that fact that he called you Delilah," the man beside me finally commented.

Dang, it. "I was hoping you hadn't heard that," I admitted honestly.

"Welp, I did. So your real name is Delilah? Lydia is the fake name you used before and again with me?" he gathered and put together.

I nodded. He hit that nail pretty directly. "Yup."

"Okay, cool. Are we finally on the same page?"

I thought about it and shrugged. "Same chapter. I don't know about the page." At this point, I couldn't remember what he knew and what he didn't about my life.

"Okay, cool."

I just shook my head. "It's a real good thing we are already on the move." Another sigh crawled out my lips and I pulled out my cellphone as a thought crossed my mind. "I need to call Daniel."

"He said not to." I guess I had at least mentioned that fact to him.

Jay's eyes were a little more widened and uneasy, glancing back and forth from the road to me. "Yeah, I know, but we also didn't expect this to happen."

I didn't wait for a reply from him before I dialed the familiar number. As soon as he answered with a simple, "Delilah?" I explained the whole event that had just happened in one rant. Probably even in one breath because by the time I was done, I was gasping for air. My boyfriend's father listened intently and didn't interrupt once, which I was thankful for. When I was done, he didn't reply.
