Threading the needle in and out, I take a breath as the sounds of the city surround me. Just a simple embroidery hoop showing strings of flowers. Leaning forward off the tree, I cross my legs looking down at my watch; where is he? As the thought crosses my mind, a breeze flashes past.
Turning to my right, I see Peter lift his goggles as he leans against the tree. Putting the hoop in my backpack along with my jacket, I stand "You know for someone so fast you are late."
"Hey, don't forget you're the ones who need my help." he shrugs as the two of us walk across the front lawn of the Pentagon "If this weren't for what it's worth, I would have said no on a dime to this." I jest.
Peter takes a second before nodding "So you do have a history with professor guy?" he guesses, shaking my head as we walk through the door. I answer, "A long time ago, I used to call him dad."
An uncomfortable silence drifts between us till I point to a side staircase up ahead "That's our entrance."
"Our?"
Glancing at him, I throw my hands out a bit "What? You think I'm sitting this out just because Hank said to, my one chance to meet Erik I'm not passing it up."
As the staircase begins to come up, I move closer to Peter, "Down into the kitchen and into the elevator." I instruct. Nodding, Peter places one hand on the back of my neck and holds my arm with the other.
My vision turns to a blur, my body weightless as colors and scenery blend; after blinking once, I open my eyes to find us in the black and white elevator. I stand in the corner as Peter smirks, he's a blur once again knocking the guard's hat off while I quietly pull two rolls of ducktape out of my bag.
Seeing our reflection, the guard turns around, shocked. "Hey!" he exclaims. Tossing one roll to Peter, I swirl mine around my hand "Hi."
But before I could have any fun, the guy is partially ducktaped to the corner while Peter laughs. Sighing, I step over and pull the guard's uniform jacket over his head "Here." I start handing it to Peter. Grinning, I ducktape the rest of the guy up so he can't even struggle. "Remember, just vibrate your hands, and the glass should shatter."
"I don't understand why you have to wait in the elevator." Peter questions picking up the food tray. Peering up, I see we're about to hit bottom. Stepping to the side of the door, I nod to him, "Because I don't have powers."
His eyes widen "What-"
Holding a finger to my lips, the door opens, and Peter gives me one last look before walking out. So far, everything was going according to plan. Suddenly I hear shouting and rushing footsteps as an alarm blares. Turning to the right, I see a faint blur before my vision cuts in and out; stumbling over, I lean against the far wall.
Stupid headache. Another flash but this time Peter is there with a man in all white clothes; I recognize him from the pictures. Peter quickly changes back into his standard outfit, making Erik do a double-take as he recovers from the effects of moving so fast.
"It'll pass; it happens to everyone," Peter explains as I press the button and the elevator closes again "You must've done something serious." Peter starts again, earning a look from me "What you do? What you do? Why did they have you in there?"
"For killing the President," Erik states, catching his breath. Peter nods his head before turning to mouth to me "Shit!" my lips quirk up before I clear my throat "The only thing you did was fight for mutant rights. You're a hero." I remark, these words so true.
Narrowing his brow, Erik looks me up and down before pointing to Peter "You are fast and crazy." he begins before pointing back at me "And you, what can you do?" he inquires. My smiles gone as I sigh "I only wish something, Erik." I respond.
He takes a second, realizing he heard his name from my lips "You know my name?"
"I'm probably the only person who doesn't have a reason not to your name." I riddle with a little shrug, "My dad talked about you a lot. Talked a lot about Cuba as well." I finish. Erik takes this in, laughing. "Are you a Summers?" he starts.
Shaking my head, he continues with his little game, "Mccoy?"
"Wait, so is it true you can control metal?" Peter interrupts. Erik nods as he stares at my face causing Peter to look up in thought as well "My mom knew a guy like that."
Just then, the door opens to what was supposed to be the kitchen but looked more like a singing in the rain shit show. Two guards were knocked out as Logan and Charles stood before them.
"Charles?" mumbles Erik, and with a shout, Charles nails Erik in the jaw, who falls to the floor. Charles leans against the wall shaking his hand out as Erik wavers to stand "Good to see you too, old friend."
"And walking!" he marvels, brushing himself off.
"No thanks to you." Charles seeth.
"You're the last person in the world I expected to see today."
"Believe me, I wouldn't be here if I didn't have to. If we get you out of here, we do it my way--no killing."
My jaw drops as I put my hands on my hips, his way, this whole thing is my plan! Erik motions to his head "No helmet. I couldn't disobey you even if I wanted."
Charles glares at Erik for a second before stabbing a finger in my direction "I told said you weren't allowed to come." he reminds.
Raising a brow, I cross my arms "You used to tell me about Erik all the time; how could I pass up a chance to meet a legend." I push.
Erik peers at me. "I'm sorry, what?"
Turning back to him, I hold out my hand to Charles "You guessed Mccoy and not Xavier?" I muse until Charles snaps his fingers in front of my face "Hey! Listen!"
"Why should I listen to you?!"
"I am you're father-"
"You are not my dad!" I scream. The only sound that remains is the sprinklers and the alarms. Biting my lip, I stare into those eyes that I got my genes from "I don't understand why you can't just listen to simple instructions." he scolds.
Clutching my fist, I respond to his anger, "You can't expect me to be predictable! I'm not an experiment!" I rage.
"Yes, you are!"
This settles in the air as I take a breath, I should feel hurt or angry, but I know that what he said, even out of anger or rage, is the truth. Just then, the doors fly open as guards storm in with guns as we move out of the elevator.
"NOBODY MOVE!!!!"
"HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!!!"
"Freeze them, Charles." Erik states, but Charles can only stare ahead "I can't." he whispers, making Erik looks forward. All the metal in the room begins shaking. Gulping, I take a step back "Peter!" I begin to shout.
His form becomes a blur as a streak of silver weaves around the room, making a blur of the kitchen's contents and its people. I feel a cool hand on the back of my neck as the world becomes warped in lines.
I blink for a second and skid to a stop; I hold onto Peter, trying not to fall "I got you." he states, grabbing my arms as well turn back to the kitchen.
Two guards are thrown back into the walls, another set hits each other with their own guns, as two more either flip over or punch themselves in the face. Letting out a breath, I notice Peter ran us to the other side of the kitchen. Reaching up, I feel a cap on my head and smile as Peter takes off his headphones and goggles.
"You...are amazing!" I pant out.
