Nya cried that night.
And the next.
And the next.
And the next.
She tried keeping it in, trying not to wake up her boyfriend but she couldn't help it. He was gone. For good.
The death of Cole took a turn on the whole team. Jay had already let it out and cried even more sometimes. Every night he heard the whimpers, sobs, coughs, and sniffles that would come out. He didn't even want to hold her, scared that he would invade in her space.
Nya hated showing her emotions, it wasn't who she was. Kai was the same and passed it down to her. Now both could care less. They lost someone near and dead to them. Social media had been a bad place for all of them.
People were blaming Nya for the incident, saying it was her fault. Others were asking what was going to happen with their team and who was the next elemental to take his spot. She deleted all of the apps on her phone, not being able to take it anymore.
She believed them.
One night she called Coles number, she knew his phone was somewhere in the bounty but they didn't bother looking for it. His voice came up.
"Hey, sorry I didn't get your call. I probably lost my phone, again. If this is Wu, I'm sorry, I'll find it. I promise. If this is Nya, yes, I did eat your cupcake. When I find my phone, I'll buy you one. If this is Jay, yes I beat your high score. Anyways, leave a message for me."
Jay has come in their shared room. They weren't really sharing it lately since Nya made it as her crying cave. "Do you want me to sleep in the other room tonight?" He asked from the door. He was scared to enter. A dangerous shiver went down his spine as he noticed the endless amounts of tissue paper on the ground, record players, wrappers of chocolate and a person who was in the bed. Almost dead-like if she wasn't moving from the heavy amount of sobbing.
Jay didn't want to sleep by himself. He was sleeping on Kai's floor who seemed neutral about it. He shrugged, when he really didn't want to sleep alone for another night. He was grateful Jay took the step, because he, himself, didn't have energy to ask. It wasn't as comfortable and Kai was sleep talking every night due to the nightmares from that day. Everyone was feeling with it differently but they all were affected heavily.
Lloyd isolated himself on his room. After years of attachment issues and finding a family. Losing a brother hurt him. It hurt everyone. He was left alone for many years and left on the streets when kicked out. He finally found his family, his comfort. That all got kicked into the curb when he died.
Zane was silent. Won't speak a single word. He does his things normally with a closed mouth. He was a person that was there for others, comforting them when down, but he couldn't seem to care for himself. He expressed everything through actions, rather than expressing his grief. That had Jay on edge since he was the one who would care for Zane (along side Pixal and Nya of course). Jay realized the inconsistency in Zane's emotions that were expressed during the past few weeks.
He noticed it in Nya's emotions as well.
Jay thought that Nya needed space but he realizes that she might need him. He didn't want to give of the impression that he was leaving her.
He came and knocked on her door that night. Nya never responded. She sat up from her position, wiping her tears as she tried her absolute hardest to stop them from falling. No avail. She gestured for him to come. With a small sigh of relief, he closed the door behind him and sat beside her.
She threw herself on him, burying her head on his shoulder. He lifted her up and repositioned her in front of him, holding her close. "H-he's gone~" she whimpered. Although Jay was supposed to comfort her, he started to cry as well. He lost his best friend. His closest friend. The one he would go to, make fun of, have deep conversations. All down the drain.
He rubbed her back tenderly, holding her tighter as he choked on a sob. "I know." He gripped on her shirt, the fear of her slipping through his fingers increasing drastically. He rested his head on her shoulder as she did the same. "Believe me, I know."
A knock on the door was heard, Nya lifted her head, looking back at the door and slid off Jay. He let her go, despite his fears, trying to calm himself down. Neither of them bothered to wipe their tears. "Come in," She said, her voice hoarse from the strain of sobbing constantly. Lloyd, Zane and her brother came in the door, two of which had tear stains.
Because Zane is- you know.
Kai sat on the other side of Nya, pulling her into a side hug. Lloyd sat on the other side of Jay, looking down as Jay rubbed his back. He rested his head on his shoulder. Zane sat in front of them, crossing his legs, silent as always.
"Can we sleep here tonight?" Lloyd asked. It wasn't impossible. Nya was given the biggest room after the boys. Wu claimed he didn't need a big one. Her room was always clean, except for now, and didn't have much furniture. There was enough space for all. Even with Cole.
Nya nodded, a small hum that said she agreed. They all silently gone to the ground, her bed wasn't big enough.
Kai, Jay, Nya, Lloyd, Zane.
That was the order they laid on the floor. Zane ripped the blanket from the bed and draped it on them.
They all silently cried themselves to sleep tonight with Cole in his ghost form, sitting on the bed, watching them fall into a slumber.
