"I am gonna win today!" Michelle quickly moved one of his black horse on the chessboard.
"Sure", I grinned and shifted the white bishop three star blocks to catch up with black knight.
Like all other games, Star Chess was invented by a great magician in this world. It is different from 'ordinary' chess because the board is shaped in form of a star map. The 'Queen' piece can only move as per as the star sign and other pieces have their ways of movement. Nobles and Emperors have enjoyed playing chess and can also be regarded as basic culture of aristocracy.
Michelle placed the black rook in front.
"You should have moved the pawn, not the rook.", I stated and went ahead with my strategy.
"Is it?", he mumbled, sheepishly.
"San, I will be going to the greenhouse today. I want to collect some herbs.", I informed Sandy who was watching us play the chess.
"Okay, Lyly.", Sandy said, titling her head. "Did you take a professor's permission?"
"Yes. I got the permit signed by Professor Zanny". I waved a green signatured slip at her, ignoring the boy whose mind was hovered with panic as he was losing the game.
"Checkmate!", I dropped the white queen and straightened up.
"Huh?" Michelle shrieked. "We just started and how did you win?"
"Bye-bye." I stuck my tongue out, playfully at the despairing boy; he had sworn that he would win today. "I will be visiting the library first."
"These articles were recommended to you by?", the librarian enquired.
"Professor Zanny de Monte."
"Alright. 'Standard Spells, Elementary' by Nico LeMay is on F rack."
"I will go check the last section." I walked over towards the furthest corner, my eyes fishing for the book.
"Yes, I do know her."
"She's overcritical. In fact she has no moral obligations."
I paused when I heard the familiar voices. I curled my lips perceiving the blonde haired girl whispering in an audible timbre with a pitiful look on her face. The person alongside her had a stone-cold face without any emotions portrayed, but stared at the pretty girl intently.
"So...She is causing trouble?" Ethan adjusted his position on the chair and drummed his elbow on the table, supporting his head on his hand.
"Indeed. We have accrued debts to clear.", Ivan said without fluttering her gaze.
My eyes were already cold or rather murderous after hearing the phrases 'overcritical' and 'has no moral obligations'.
"Oh! What debts? I am running out of patience, actually." His look was inconsiderate, but he clicked his tongue in a flirtish way.
Ivan swallowed her dry saliva before smiling beautifully. "That's kind of personal. She changed her dorm room. At first we were room-mates. Maybe I disappointed her, but I really want to be her friend.", she bit her bottom lip, tearfully. "I know she is very short-tempered and straightforward, nevertheless I will be her company. She slapped me because I angered her...I apologised, I will ask for her forgiveness again. Will you convince her to stay with me?"
I shivered. Not because she was pointing me as a bully and belittling me, but because it sounded more like if I don't stay with her, she would come after me to choke me to death. Why is she trying so hard to be close with me?
