I slapped my cheeks.

No way, sh*t. What did I do?

Rose asked me for a duel and I agreed to it? Is something wrong with my conscience?

"How was the tea party?" Anne asked, earnestly.

"The tea party was ripe!" I groaned pacing around my room throwing things out of their locus.

On our way back, Rose did nothing, but smile at me...a smile akin to a benevolent saint. With all that friendly sparkles dripping off from her, she almost made be blind. Is she that happy to covet me as her knight? There's a 'future tense' flagged on it. If I am unable to win against her; will I be a knight forever? No way! My freedom would be shunned...Wrong, there's a bigger question- will I be able to manifest a magic core in the first place? My soul and Lydia's soul are completely different! There is no guarantee that just because Lydia was a wind mage, I would be one too. I am already under pressure, even before entering the school grounds T_T. On top of that Rose is one of the greatest fire mage in this nation. I did a big mistake by sympathizing with her; a big mistake!

"Anything wrong, my lady?" Anne's face darkened and not knowing what to do, she cautiously assessed the situation.

"Yes! Bring me few more books from the library!" Rose has already returned back to her academy. Before taking her leave, she demobbed the restrictions she had levied on me.

Anne glanced at my study table which was laded with nothing, but books. "You need more?"

"Yes." I had a sudden thirst to manifest my magic core right away, if I could. Nevertheless, I knew it has zilch possibility.

I buried myself in pages of book, shifting my position from study table to bed, then again back to my study table. I felt nervous, a soft panic that kept growing as I pictured myself sparring with Rose. It might fade if I back away, but it will only terminate creating tensity between us. With each passing second, my anxiety grew and I let these thoughts swirl into a vortex of stupidity, eating their own tail.

Gosh...I can't find a solution!

"My lady, the young sir came back today."

Wow! His sister left and now the devil comes.

"He came back because Ahmose Fire Festival is nearing.", Anne orated.

"It's time for the Fire Festival, already?" I have practically lost track of time. My life here only comprise of eating, drinking, reading and sleeping. It's my diurnal cycle.

For Ahmose Fire Festival people decorated their pavilion with trinkets, lights and colourful ribbons. They also exchange presents such as clothes, fancy cards, sweets...only with their closed ones.

Tell me, how does it feel to receive gifts from your friends or family during such festivals cause I never received even a single coin as a present. It was only my step-mother and step-father gifting presents to their own son (namely my step-brother) and how I wished that one day I would receive something from them too. How dumb I was! I have no special memories of celebrating any heart throbbing festival.
