D-lab
Zoe heads to the D-lab as soon as school is over. Even though both Max and Zoe don't have their stones and cards they still keep their communicators on hand. And just because Rex is gone doesn't mean that the D-team is done for, so they still visit the D-lab once in a while. Today Reese isn't there waiting for Zoe. Reese is on an excavation site with Dr. Taylor and Dr. Owen in New York. They discovered some fossils in Georgia and are going to examine them. Zoe puts in the code and heads inside the D-lab.

Study Hall
Max is sitting at a table with his math books out. And his teacher is also there, instead of going back to her house she makes sure Max is going to stay and do his work for the amount of time he needs to. Max has to stay at school for one more hour until he can go to the D-lab and help Zoe.

New York
"This is amazing Dr. Taylor!", says Reese as she looks at the dinosaur fossils.

"I'm glad you like it Reese.", says Dr. Taylor. "Since your a very smart girl. We were wondering if-"

"If you could put all the fossils together for our exhibit.", says Dr. Owen. "Will you accept Reese?"

"Yes! This is an honor. Thank you very much, both of you.", says Reese.

Study Hall
Max is just about to finish up the last question on the math sheet when his teacher says the she wants him to stay 10 more minutes after school and study since there is a major important test coming up in the trimester.

"But I have plans. I promised-", says Max as he is cutt off.

"No. I want you to study, I'm only keeping you after for you to succeed during the test. I only want you to do your best Max.", says his teacher.

"Ok. I understand.", says Max with a sad expression.

10 minutes later Max has done an extra sheet of paper to prepare for his math test.

"You may go now. I am very proud of how much you got accomplished today.", says his teacher.

"Ok thanks teach! Bye.", says Max running out the front door of the school.

Max picks up his bike and puts his helmet on. He rides to the D-lab.

Taylors House
Max passes by his house and his mom stops him.

"Max I got a call that you stayed after school for study hall. I want you to go up to your room and study right now young man!", says Mrs. Taylor.

"But mom, I can't.", replies Max.

"And why not?", she asks.

"Because I promised Zoe I would meet her at the D-lab and I'm so late. She's gonna kill me if I don't come today. Please mom. I promise I will after.", says Max.

Mrs. Taylor sighs and says "alright fine, but when I see you back in this house I want you up in your room working on your math work."

"Ok I will. Thanks mom!", says Max riding off.

D-lab
Max meets Zoe at the front of the D-lab. They head in and connect their communicators to the big screen. Since they don't know a lot about the equipment as Reese does, they don't mess with it a lot.

"You got here later, then I expected.", says Zoe crossing her arms.

"Yeah. She told me I had to stay for a bit longer.", says Max rubbing the back of his neck.

"Ok, it's fine. We can still try to get in contact with Rex.", says Zoe with enthusiasm.

"Let's get to it then!", replies Max.

Max connects his communicator to the main screen, right next to Zoes. They try to get in contact with the future, with Rex. Since all 3 of the communicators are connected through the stones, they worked perfectly in different time zones but ever since Rex left and took the stones Max and Zoe were not able to get in contact with him.
The two of them hear a few sounds. What could it be?
Max looks excited, what if it's Rex on the other side! That would be just great!!!
But..... instead of Rex responding, it was just static.

"Oh come on!!!!!I thought we were so close this time!!!", screams Max.

"Yeah...... I thought it was going to work for sure this time.", says Zoe.

"Maybe we should try again tomorrow.", suggests Max.

"Yeah lets do that.....We have a lot of homework anyways.", says Zoe.

"Bye Zoe!", yells Max.

"Bye.", says Zoe waving back at him.

Taylors House
Maxs mom greets him at the front door and Max knows that he has to go up to his room and work on hi school work. He sits on his chair, takes out his books and starts to study. In the middle of studying he falls asleep. Instead of having a normal dream like you would while sleeping, Max sees flashbacks. Flashbacks from the good old days, the days when the D-team was whole and fighting against the Alpha Gang and the Specteral Pirates. Max remembers Chomp biting his leg. He remembers Ace being afraid of water. He also gets a flashback to when him and Rex were fighting over Zara in the past. He sees Zoe trying her best to help the dinosaurs, he also sees the flashback from when she got trapped in a rock slide back at the Great Wall Of China. And a flashback of when Jim kissed her on the cheek, he remembers how jealous him and Rex were!

Drakes House
Zoe heads to the clinic where her dad is. She decides to help him with the animals instead of doing homework. There are dogs and cats. Some birds, hamsters, and rabbits. She helps her dad treat to all of the injured and sick pets. Some of them are just at the clinic for a basic checkup. As soon as she is done her mother tells her to go upstairs and do her homework, so she does. Just like Max she takes out her books and starts to do her work, but she doesn't fall asleep like him.

3 months later

At the D-lab
"We've been trying for almost 2 years Zoe! I don't think we can talk to them! I don't think we will ever see them again!!!!!", says Max moving his arms around in her face.

"But....we can't give up....", says Zoe looking at the ground. "We promised that we wouldn't, you agreed to it."

"Well now I think that it's pointless, we're just wasting our time. We have to forget about them. If we don't now then this is what we will be doing the rest of our lives.", says Max facing the other way.

Zoes hands form into fists and she looks mad.

"SERIOUSLY! YOUR JUST GONNA GIVE UP ON OUR FRIENDS!", says Zoe in an angered voice.

Max nods.

"FINE! BUT LOOKING FOR THEM FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE IS BETTER THAN JUST FORGETTING ABOUT THEM!!", she yells.

"Stop fighting. Both of you knock it off.", says Reese intervening.

"Go ahead! Lose your whole life for people who probably don't even remember us. For people that we will never see again!", says Max walking out of the room.

"Your the worst Max Taylor!! I never want to see you again!!! Don't ever come back here!!!", screams Zoe who is also tearing up.

Zoe runs out of D-lab right behind Max. She heads back home and so does Max.

"Max and Zoe get back here! You can't end like this!", yells Reese as the two of them leave.
