she falls asleep on your lap

You jumped when the front door suddenly opened and closed, but relaxed when you saw Kylie walk inside. Right away, you noticed the tired look in her eyes and the way she dragged her feet. She took off her shoes and then collapsed on the couch beside you, tilting her head back and closing her eyes to try to let her stresses slip away.

"Kylie? You alright?"

She ran her hands over her face and then looked at you for the first time since she walked through the door. She sent you a small smile and tried to hide how worn out and exhausted she really felt. But she wasn't fooling you. It was easy to see with the dark circles under her eyes and the sleepy look in her beautiful brown orbs.

"You look sleepy." You said and caressed her cheek ever so softly. With your knuckles brushing along her skin, she closed her eyes and leaned into your touch. "Long day?"

"Yeah." She mumbled. "But I'm okay."

You could tell otherwise. She really wasn't okay. But you didn't push it and decided instead that you'd do all you could to help her relax like she always does for you.

"Why don't you go take a nap?"

"No. I wanna be with you."

"Well how about a nice hot bath? Or maybe I can give you a massage? Or make you some food."

You knew all of those things would help her relax enough to get some sleep, which you knew she needed. With how busy she's been and how hard she's been working some sleep would do her some good.

But she refused. While she was tired, she was willing to push through to get some quality time with you.

She stretched her legs out and laid her head on your lap.

"Let's do something fun."

You chuckled, sensing the sleepiness in her voice. She was blinking up at you, gazing at you with a look of love in her eyes. Her hand found yours and she moved it to her hair, holding your other hand in hers by intertwining your fingers together and giving your fingers kisses and then a squeeze.

"How about a movie?" You suggested and browsed through all the films on Netflix before stumbling upon the one you know she loves. She was already finding it hard to keep her eyes open when you're combing your fingers through her hair, but putting on her favorite film and holding her close would help her to sleep.

She hummed and closed her eyes when the intro began to play. You watched a smile tug at her soft lips and you couldn't help but lean down to give her a kiss. She happily reciprocated it and let her fingers lace through your hair before breathing out a soft sigh against your lips.

"Don't fight sleep." You whispered as you pulled away. "I know you're tired and I promise I don't mind if you fall asleep. You need and deserve it."

She just sighed heavily and started to drift off to sleep. But she kept her hand in yours the whole time and refused to drop it.

"I love you so much. You know that?"

"I love you too, baby." You whispered in return. "Now sleep. Have sweet dreams. I'll be here holding you the whole time."

And with that, she fell right asleep; cozy and happy with her head on your lap and your fingers still intertwined.
