3 Days Later (Tuesday, October 16th):

Elemental History Class - Mara P.O.V.

It's been a few days since the Balstead Invitational turned into a battle royal for survival. It's only Tuesday and since yesterday, I still get these stares from people wherever I go because of what happened. They say I rode Darren's Fire Shuriken during our standoff with those whacked-out automatons but I think nothing of it. But that was Saturday and this is Tuesday. I sit on the front row of my Elemental History class with Marcie sitting right behind me since we share this period together - other than our human world classes.

"Hello class," our teacher, Mr. Blackburn, starts the period calming everyone down causing those still talking to take their seats. "Today's history lesson will focus on the element of light and its history in our world." I don't know why, but I'm looking forward to this. "For today's lecture, we have a special guest." The door to his office opens and out walks this tall black man standing at least 6'2" wearing this black pinstripe suit with a yellow tie walks out. His hair is low-cut fitting the contour of his head. His eyes look black but I believe they're a deep shade of brown - similar to Darren's eyes only this guy's eyes feel warm and inviting. "Go easy on him and let him talk about his element's powers through the ages."

"Good afternoon, everyone," he speaks softly so we all hear him. The other girls in the class melt at the sound of his voice. I turn around seeing a group at the back of the room swooning like fangirls. I admit he's cute but I'm not really into that; matter of fact, I'm not into guys at all but I'm not ready to tell anyone that. "My name's Omar and I'm the Light Mystic Elemental Leader." Everyone was in awe of his status except for me - I'm still mad at Aurora for avoiding my and Darren's questions about Saturday. I still don't understand what that was all about.

Looking up, this guy walks to my desk leering at me with the same look Aurora gives me that I now find annoying. "Hello, Mara," Omar calls me out by name drawing a scowl from me and gasps from the rest of the class. "I know you're upset with Aurora but understand we have our reasons why we can't tell you certain things yet." I hear whispers from my classmates causing me to turn around feeling myself grow angrier by the second. "Everything will make sense in time," he causes me to look at him still miffed at what happened but he's right; I'll get my questions answered in time. He then places a piece of paper on my desk before walking behind me. I look at him as he eyes Marcie causing her to look at him. "My goodness, I finally get to meet you, Marcie DuBois," he smirks drawing more jealous scoffs from the girls sitting at the back of the room.

Marcie glances at me before looking back at Omar. "You . . . know my name?" she stammers out shocked he would know something like a student's name.

"I've been watching you for a while, young lady, but let's just say that we'll be seeing a lot more of each other in the months to come. I want you to pay particular attention to what I'm going to say today." I watch him place a second piece of paper on her desk before walking back to the front of the class. "The Element of Light," he speaks to the class starting his lecture, "is the most powerful of the line of elements and one which gives life to the other elements."

"What makes the Light Element so different from the others?" one of the guys speaks up showing his Light emblem. "I can't wait to do half the things you can do."

"You can adjust light and turn night into day if you're strong enough. Light can do so much more than turn our lights on and off every day - you can control time itself but only I can do that since I'm a Leader." I swear as I'm sitting here, he was clearly staring at Marcie as he said that as if to tell her something. He glances at me with a smirk before continuing his thought. "In the history that belongs to us Elementals, the light element has always been the catalyst for everything that exist in both this world and the human world."
