15: Elemental War Prologue (Part 3) - Student War Council

The Next Morning (Friday, February 15th):

Sometimes, it sucks being Student Body President - especially when things are going south as fast as ever. We've been in school for just over a month into the semester and already we've had an almost-attack, an unlawful entry, and a power display that hasn't happened in centuries.  Last semester before the Blitz after Darren and Myesha got back from England with that warning, we created a War Council in case this place was ever threatened - mostly because we're the last stronghold before the Elemental Palace which sits five miles north of campus.

Now, however, things are more dangerous than ever.  We're dealing with a rogue group of Elementals set on wiping us out, we found out that my teammate Mara is the next Supreme Leader, and at least some on the Elemental Council have been compromised.  This morning, Darren and I put the school on Alert Level 3 due to the actions of Air Councilwoman Adara who was never allowed on campus to begin with.  This meeting of the Student Council is being combined with the Student War Council we created to keep an eye on the situation with the Nexus Elementals. The War Council is comprised of the top strategists in the school, regardless of what year or team rank they're in, along with the leaders of the A-Rank and S-Rank teams. These two ranks are the combat-abled teams that  we decided can handle combat. The Council has been considering extending that designation to B-Rank teams but we're still investigating that prospect.

I'm sitting at the head table as President, Darren is on my right as Vice-President. The rest of the Student Council consists of the Secretary of Arena Affairs Meghan Calloway (she MC'd the event yesterday). Imani Moreau serves as our Chief of Public Relations - she's on the same team with Mara's new girlfriend Odelia Brazelton.  Lastly, my best friend Kasia Wellington and her classmate, Isaac's friend Delisha Carpenter, serve the Council as Duo Heads of the Intraday Planning Committee - they set the schedule for the events that we usually take part in.

"Alright everyone," I get the meeting started seeing that everyone is here. Supreme Leader Aurora is here as our guest along with several people we need to hear from. The goal of this meeting is to set some sort of plan as to how we're going to defend the school while going about the semi-normal school day.  "We have a lot to sort out and not a lot of time to do it."

"We have eight items on our agenda for this joint meeting," Darren holds up the list for our joint meeting. "We're going to go one at a time because we also have to talk to a number of people about the events of last week and the threat to our security situation."

"Then start with your friend Mara," Isaac's been on our nerves since Clash of Hearts ended.  He's impertinent on knowing what the deal is with our friend and how she was able to do what she did.

I shake my head not believing his impatience. "Isaac, chill out," I warn him. "We have a lot to talk about and yes, Mara is a major part of why this meeting has been called." I turn to my teammate nodding.  "First up, the Council needs to reveal that Air Councilwoman Adara, who shouldn't have been here, was creeping around campus last week."  I turn to Mara and Odelia, who I asked to be here as witnesses. "Mara Gregson and Odelia Brazelton, we call you two before the Student Council." The couple stand, holding hands, and walk to a podium set up in front of the Council.  "I know you're nervous Mara, but this Council needs you two to retell what Odelia told Darren and me yesterday. This will provide context for what the rest of this meeting will be about."

"Okay," Mara tells of everything that took place on February 7th.  Both Odelia and she explained everything to the best of their memory.

5 Minutes Later:

" . . . and that's all I can recall," Odelia finishes telling their story to the Council about what transpired before Clash of Hearts.

"Thanks you two," Darren nods along with the rest of us.  "I'm sure you've given both this Council and our War Council context to what we're going to discuss for the rest of this meeting. Before we let you go, I just want to say this off the record: you two are good for each other.  You can sit down now." The couple bows before returning to their seats.  I think Odelia is the leader of her team and Mara is now the leader of our team due to her status. "Now then," he turns left seeing the five teachers plus Miss Stephens who were also called to this meeting. "Mr. Yukimura, we call you before the Student Council."
