{INT. ENGINE ROOM, TRAWLER}

DERICK

Hey, whatever happens, know that Dad loves you and he’ll do anything to keep you safe. Your mum told me to look after you when she died. I swear to God, you’ll make it home, son.

PAPU

(hugs Derick)

Yeah, dad, I know you’ve got everything under control.

DERICK

(hugs Papu)

For you, son. Come on, let’s go home. I’ll come back for this shit another day.

{EXT. TRAWLER’S TOP}

Derick and Papu come out of the engine room through the cabin.

DAN

Is it up now?

DERICK

(stands on the second steering; outside the wheelhouse, and starts the engine) Yeah!

(to Dan)

What are you still doing down there?

DAN

This chain won’t cut!

DERICK Why?

DAN

The cutter was blunt!

DERICK

Why didn’t you loose the bolts?

DAN

I got it, that’s what I’m doing now.

DERICK

Be fast then.

DAN

(loosens the bolts) I got it!

(suddenly, great energy drags the loosened chain while he is still holding it. The chain carries him towards the water. He quickly grasps the edge of the boat, looks into the water and sees the creature swimming upwards in high speed)

Jesus Christ! It’s coming!

DERICK God damn it!

(to Dan) Hold tight!

(quickly turns the boat around and sail it) Hey, son!

PAPU

Dad!

DERICK

Come and handle the wheels let me help Dan.

(Papu takes the wheel from him. He rushes to Dan, grasps his hand and drags him into the boat)

DAN

(groans) Arr!

(blood gushes out of his lower abdomen)

DERICK God damn it!

(runs into the wheelhouse and carries out a first aid box)

Suddenly, the creature hits the boat. Derick and Papu fall on the floor, energy moves Dan and hits him at one side of the boat.

PAPU

Dad!

DERICK Go into the wheelhouse and control the wheel there.

The creature hits the boat and the energy dislocates all of them.

PAPU

(gets up and runs into the wheelhouse) I got the wheel!

DAN

Don’t worry about me, Captain! Please, save Papu; my friend!

DERICK

(carries Dan to the wheel outside the wheelhouse and keeps the first aid box near Dan)

I brought this upon us, and I’m going to fix it.

DAN

No, we all planned to come here, it’s on me as well.

DERICK

(nods)

Please, take my son home.

(holds the accelerator, increases the speed of the boat, locks Papu inside the wheelhouse, carries a PETROL CONTAINER and stand at the edge of the boat. The creature is following the boat with a swell of water)

DAN

(to Derick) No!

PAPU

Dad!

DERICK

(looks at Papu) I love you, son!

(to Dan)

Safe journey, friend!

(ties the petrol container around his chest, cuts his palm with a penknife, bleeds and makes his blood fall into the water. Tears roll down his cheek) I’m sorry, mum.

(the creature swims faster towards the boat where Derick’s blood falls, and it's

about to heat the boat. He sees the creature I said you’ll die for that. You can’t hurt my son. (jumps into the water) Die!

(removes the pin on the grenade in his hand. The creature grasps him and suddenly, a BIG BLAST scatters him and the creature into pieces)

PAPU

(hitting his hands against the door of the wheelhouse) No! Dad!

DAN

(shed tears) Captain!

NARRATOR (V.O)

I forgot to tell him how I loved him. At least, the sound of my voice would have been the last whisper he heard.

LATER

{DAY}

A helicopter is above the trawler.

NARRATOR (V.O)

They came pretty late, Dan was already dead. I was the only survivor in the crew.

{INT. HOSPITAL BED}

Papu is lying on the sickbed.

NARRATOR (V.O)

I was diagnosed for up to a week. But apart from Grandma, no one believed in the beast. The media said we were attacked by storms and the trauma made me schizophrenic, then I learned that Grandma once suffered Schizophrenia. Now I know why my dad never believed in Grandma’s stories.

{INT. PARLOUR}

Grandma is looking at a group picture; having the images of Derick and his wife, Papu and herself.

NARRATOR (V.O)

Grandma and I; living without my dad and mum, it’s not a good experience at all. Something I never wished to see was my father dying in front of me by a hungry beast.
