the door opened, the nurse walking in. "what are you kids doing in here?" startled he pulled back, looking up at the intruder."oh um... we got caught in the rain and just came here to dry off." yeonjun replied, awkwardly scratching the back of his head.
she nodded walking further into the room. "up." she shooed him out of the chair he was in, pointing towards the bed i was sitting at.
he sat next to me still wet, being too focused on me and not drying himself off. i took the towel off one of my shoulder scooting closer and bring it round him so it sat on his shoulder instead. luckily it was large enough for the both of us to share.
we both sat close, watching as the nurse rummaged through a box looking for something. "ah here they are." she said pulling out two disposable thermometers.
tutting, she removed the caps, putting one in each of our mouths. "now now weren't you ever warned to stay out of the rain, especially one as hard as this." she sweetly scolded like a mother.
after some minutes passed she took the thermometers out, adjusting her glasses as she looked at the figures. "just as i thought." she sighed. "you both have high temperatures. i don't think you'll be able to go back to class." she said throwing them into the trash can.
"wait here."
i watched her back leaving the room, still staring at the door after she shut it. i looked up to the side, meeting eyes with yeonjun who was already looking at me. "what?" i mumbled, slightly pouting.
"cute." he whispered grinning.
"i meant what i said out there y/n. i want to help." he brought his hand up, gently pushing my hair behind my ear.
"and i thought i told you to stop making promises you can't keep." i looked away.
"well i promise. i'm here to stay." he wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me closer, cuddling me to his side.
as much as i would hate to admit it, it felt nice. it felt nice to have someone. even though i kept to pushing him away, he still continued trying and was stubborn till the end. i was grateful.
i laid my head on his shoulder, fiddling with the edge of the towel in my hands.
the walls i put around myself all my life slowly crashing down. all because of a boy that wouldn't leave me alone.
the nurse came back, handing us each a pile of clothes "here get changed out of those wet ones before you make yourselves even more sick." she left the room, locking it giving us privacy.
i sat there holding the clothes close to my chest, sucking my lips in, not knowing what to do.
"here i'll look away, you change first." yeonjun took his arm off my waist, standing up and drawing the small curtains that hung, closed. he walked to the corner of the room and stood with his back facing me.
i peeped out the edge of the curtain. making sure he definitely wasn't looking, and turned around and began getting changed.

it had been a good few minutes of me standing there and she still wasn't done. wanting to make sure everything was alright i turned back around, facing the curtains. however they were not closed well enough, allowing me to catch a glimpse of her bare back as she removed her top.
wanting to turn back around to give her privacy, i couldn't help but stare longer as my eyes scanned over all the bruises, scratches and small circular burns from what looked like cigarette butts, spread across her back.
my eyes started watering. i felt guilty. i knew none of what was happening was in no way my wrongdoing but i still couldn't help but feel guilty, feeling as if it was partially my fault.
