Chapter 3

The first week of school was over. I was sooooo glad it was Saturday. I really liked some parts of school, like seeing Billy. But other than that, I hated school. I didn't mind the homework, actually because most of it was reading. I loved to read. Thats what I was doing Saturday afternoon, when my phone rang. I answered, "Hello?" There was a pause on the other line. "Hey, Twyla. It's Billy." That immediately put a smile on my face. "Oh hey Billy. What's up?"
"I was...um kinda wondering if...you wanted to go to Clawdeen's party tonight?..." He sounded so nervous! He was so cute.
"I would love to! I mean I'm not really a party person but...i guess I could try. I have to sneak out, though. Dad doesn't want me going to party's, especially with a boy." I blushed.
"No problem. Meet you at 8:00?"
I smiled even wider. "That sounds great."

I had no idea what to wear. I have never been to a party before. After about two hours of searching, I decided on a purple knee-length dress. Nothing special, but it would work. I slowly walked down stairs.
"Where are you going dressed like that?" My Dad asked.
"oh...well...um I'm staying the night at a friend's..." I lied. "Oh okay. have fun sweetie."
"Thanks dad,"
I went outside, and called Billy. "I'm out now, I told him I was staying at a friend's."
"Well look at you being mrs. Rebel." He chuckled.
"Not hardly," I laughed.
He came and picked me up in a car! Well it was his friend, Clawd's car, but he was riding in it. "Hey, wow, Twyla you look...amazing."
I blushed. he must just be saying that, I'm not that pretty.
"Thanks..you look pretty good yourself." I wasn't lying. He looked great. Billy smiled, and held the car door open for me. He smile. "Shall we?"
